I think Cheney is toast
he is old, sick and increasingly unable to carry his own (polluted) water.

They'll sacrifice him to protect the boy who would be king.

5. It doesn't really help us (except in the history books)
that's why I think he's the one they'll sacrifice

6. Yep
Presumably Condi, but possibly someone else. Right now the Bush legacy is up for grabs; but if we get a new Veep it won't stay that way.

Course right now the Bush Legacy doesn't look like like something you'd necessarily want, even if you are a Replican.

4. They are trying to "Agnew" him....
YOu know..... Get him out of office and get a more "acceptable" VP in.... a Ford if you will. One that will pardon the chimp when he is impeached and convicted after 2006 and can run for office as a viable choice in 2008.
.... What we need is a Jimmy Carter!

7. I think that would be a major strategic mistake.
If cheney resigns they are toast.

People remember the last time a VP resigned the President was even worse and more crooked. Everyone will think its just a matter of time.
The rats will start deserting ship even faster then they are now.
The republican congress will start trying to bring them down with investigations to seperate themselves from the bunch.

12. no you misunderstood
Last time the VP resigned (Agnew) the President was even worse (Nixon)

So people will equate Bush= Nixon

Having Cheney resign would be tatamount to admitting they're a bunch of criminals and are vulnerable.

10. Cheney won't go without a fight
Cheney won't let himself be disgraced to save the Idiot Son. If the Bush and Rove faction think they can easily throw Dick to the wolves, they're mistaken. Expect internecine warfare, and invest in popcorn futures.

For his own sake, perhaps Bush should heed the words of the David Allan Coe song: "Don't bite the Dick that f***s you."

11. I think he's asking to be the fall guy.
He's rich and could still be a powerful influence as a private citizen. He must realize that he wouldn't be a good candidate in 2008 and the Repubs need a respectable potential candidate lined up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Newt vaulted into the job since he has no taint from this administration.
