Did Kay Bailey Hutchison really say that?

She must have. It was on 'Meet the Press.'

Is this the Republican strategy for dealing with any CIA leak indictments? Saying no real crimes were committed, just a teensy weensy bit of perjury? Turning Patrick Fitzgerald into Ken Starr?

I hasten to add that I have no idea whether anyone will be indicted. I've never met Pat Fitzgerald, and had problems with the way he threatened reporters with jail, but as the U.S. attorney in Chicago who went after some Daley cronies, he has a sterling reputation.

It is true that prosecutors who can't prove the original crime often wind up bringing perjury and obstruction charges. But lying to investigators, or to a federal grand jury, strikes at the heart of the law-enforcement process. This happens to be the message that GOPers pounded over and over again when Clinton dissembled over Monica, so surely they take it seriously. Or is that only when a Democrat is president?...

Even when she said it, she didn't sound like she believed it. She sounded like a 2nd grade teacher scolding a kid. It was so pathetic (especially in light of what she said on the subjet regarding Clinton) that all I could do was laugh in disbelief.

The Sunday talkfests being the venue where the GOP pushes its newest talking points en masse. Last week's being "the criminalization of politics". This one was so lame, and so easily refuted, I had to marvel at it. KBH was like an actress who knows she signed the contract so she has to follow the script, only she makes sure her line reading is as perfunctory as possible.

If Rove and Libby committed perjury, it was for a reason. The GOP line is so weak: Rove and Libby are innocent, but they committed a little perjury for shits and giggles. WTF? A serious crime, a traitorous crime is being investigated - I wonder why Rove and Libby would lie? VERY perplexing - Not!

I hope Fitz is considering "Treason" as a possible charge. I might change my position on the Death Penalty.

if you watch her, is it's obvious that she didn't rehearse her memorized lines very well. The "some perjury technicality" wasn't smoothly delivered at all.

But now, perjury is not worth talking about.

It almost makes me think they prosecuted the Clinton thing, knowing that we would all say "of course he lied; who wouldn't, under the circumstances" and then they could call us hypocrites when they use the same defense.

It all goes back to 'when Clinton lied, nobody died'.
