Don't Go There, Democrats Warn Republicans
(CNSNews.com) - With a Friday deadline looming for Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald to bring charges in the alleged unauthorized disclosure of a CIA employee's identity, newspapers are full of stories about a "public relations blitz" at the White House.

The Boston Globe reported that the "outlines" of that PR blitz emerged Sunday, when Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) told NBC's "Meet the Press" she hoped the indictments -- if there are any -- would not be based on "technicalities."

"I certainly hope that if there is going to be an indictment...that it is an indictment on a crime and not some perjury technicality where they couldn't indict on the crime and so they go to something just to show that their two years of investigation was not a waste of time and taxpayer dollars," Hutchison said.

Whoa, say Democrats....

6. Or what
They're just trying to save their asses. They could care less about the truth. They make their own version of the truth and talking points.

9. I Agree with it Being a Tactic
but at some level I do think they convince themselves. If they do it enough, they will dangerously dellude themselves like Bush has early on in his life. Since then, he's been lost! And that's what makes him such a dangerous human.

2. But what about what she said in 1999?
"One of the Republicans quoted is Sen. Hutchison, who said in February 1999 that the reason she voted to remove President Clinton from office "is because I think the overridding issue here is that truth will remain the standard for perjury and obstruction of justice in our criminal justice system and it must not be gray. It must not be muddy."

7. Maybe the people of Texas need to get their heads out of their butt
and think about reminding Sen. Hutchie about those immortal words.

11. Why don't you move down here & show us all how it is done?
It is apparent YOU think have all the answers. We've all been sitting around with our heads in our collective butts.

13. Many Texan heads have been ass-free for years
Unfortunately we are in the minority.

Kay Bailey will get to hear her own idiot-speak over and over. DeLay is going down, if not in court, then in the 06 election. Repug incumbents are dropping out and survivors are dropping in the polls.

We have a long way to go and lots of remedial education to conduct, but give us some credit!

4. Hello?!?!
Did she really say this?

"I certainly hope that if there is going to be an indictment...that it is an indictment on a crime and not some perjury technicality where they couldn't indict on the crime and so they go to something just to show that their two years of investigation was not a waste of time and taxpayer dollars,"

:wow:

Did she think we all just got amnesia in the last five years and FORGOT that they did that exact same thing to Clinton? Ahhh so the tables are turned now, and they can't stand it, can they?

Oh we'll get 'em, Mrs. Hutchinson, even if we can only get 'em on the smallest most insignificant technicality there is. You can't have it both ways, honey.

"Sen. Hutchison also called it "very unfortunate" that leaks are happening in a "leak case."

"This is a case that is trying to decide if there has been a crime committed for leaks -- and we are seeing leaks. I do not think it is right to parade all of this information out in the public arena, in the New York Times, and have us speculate about it.""

the leaks coming from the leak case, is the guys that leaked in the leak case. same dudes. her dudes.

14. I certainly agree with the first line of Hutchison's statement...
"I certainly hope that if there is going to be an indictment...that it is an indictment on a crime..."

Last time I checked, "perjury, obstruction of justice, making false statements to a GJ, espionage (divulging classified info that has potential to harm US interests), knowingly identifying a CIA operative, etc. etc. etc. are ALL crimes. No technicalities in that list.

15. GOP - lie until you get caught. I'm surprised she capitulated.
I wouldn't have been suprised if she stuck to her position and went from there to justify it.
