U.S. Subcommittee is after George Galloway again--accuses him of perjury
Damn that Norm Coleman!

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/25/galloway.accused/index.html

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- A Senate report has presented evidence it says links illegal oil money from deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's regime to the political campaign of a British lawmaker and to the accounts of his Jordanian wife.

The report accuses British Member of Parliament George Galloway of lying under oath about the payments.

The 65-page report by the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations accuses Galloway of perjury and obstruction of congressional proceedings. The evidence will be handed over to the Department of Justice for possible criminal charges.

Galloway -- a left-wing politician known for his theatrical rhetoric and fierce debating style -- appeared voluntarily before the Senate panel on May 17 and denied having taken any money.

1. Nice timing
Galloway already throw the challenge say it outside the protection of the house. He is waiting for a chance to sue.
So coleman grow some balls and take the challenge or just STFU.

3. heard this whilst driving the M25 this morning
and Galloway DEMANDED that he be charged with perjury so he could hop the first plane out of Heathrow to face that charge...and defend his name. Sounds like he is pretty confident to me...

8. I do not think these guys like any one who talks back.
Galloway did just that. Once these guys get to that nice little club in Dc they think they knew every thing. If you want to see egos look at Young and Stevens from Alaska. It is what gives Americans a bad name around the world. 8 years olds running the WH and Congress is not pretty.

9. Galloway: charge me with perjury
George Galloway this morning denied lying to a US senate committee, challenged his accusers to charge him with perjury and said he was willing to return to Washington to clear his name.

Mr Galloway, the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, was responding to a report by a US senate committee headed by Republican senator Norm Coleman. The report alleges that Mr Galloway received kickbacks from the UN's oil-for-food programme in Iraq, and lied to an earlier senate investigation when he said this was not the case.

Asked on BBC Radio 4's Today programme about payments made by his business associate Fawaz Zureikat to his estranged wife's bank account, Mr Galloway said he could not answer and was "completely bemused" by the reports.

However, he said: "I did not lie under oath in front of the senate committee.

"Indeed, it was the power of my truth in front of the senate committee which has got the senator so scorned that he has returned to this sneak attack."

15. and Norm Coleman hates Galloway, i don't know if it's because Galloway
calls him on his bullshit or he makes him feel stupid or what the actual reason is but anything and i mean anything Coleman says is suspect on every subject.

16. The humiliation made him look even more foolish
I don't know why Coleman thought he could accuse Galloway with no reprisals, but after the humiliation he received at the hands of Mr. G it's obvious that he's out to take him down however he can. I honestly don't know why he took Galloway on in the first place. The evidence was a joke, full of questionable documents and witnesses. I know Coleman is very anti-UN and pro-Iraq war and Galloway is exactly the opposite so that might have something to do with it. But Coleman is a fool. Even Republicans (the moderate real-people kind, I mean) enjoyed watching him get spanked by Galloway.

Galloway rejects senate perjury claims

A furious George Galloway today challenged US senators to charge him with perjury over claims that he solicited money from Saddam Hussein's oil-for-food programme and lied about it under oath.
The US Senate inquiry into the Bethnal Green and Bow MP's alleged involvement in the saga claims to have discovered $150,000 (£85,000) in Iraqi oil money in his estranged wife's bank account.

Its chairman, the Republican senator Norm Coleman, says this means Mr Galloway lied under oath when giving evidence to the senate permanent sub-committee on investigations on May 17, when he offered a passionate defence against similar claims.

Today Mr Galloway repeated denials that he had ever received any oil cash, and told Mr Coleman to "put up or shut up" by either bringing a prosecution or dropping the allegations. The Respect MP accused Mr Coleman of orchestrating a "sneak revenge attack" motivated by a desire to avenge his "humiliation" at the hearing in May.
