...in the present political climate, MIHOP would just look like another failure on the part of the admin. They might dummy up a LIHOP that they can publically foil. "Thanks to our vigilance this horror was averted....blah blah blah."

They need an actual superman moment here, not a Lex Luthor moment, IMO. The problem is that the intellectuals guiding such things are presently preoccupied with pending indictments, ergo, the amateurs may be running things.

In that case, MIHOP or LIHOP might just occur.

Another likely scenario is the release of a scary Bin Ladin tape to whip the mongers back into line. We're getting pretty close to Halloween...

two Dems in trouble for violation of a "moral terpitude" clause, three missing white women in exotic locations, four Hollywood actors getting arrested for various misdemeanors, five stories about Bin Laden's presumed death, six murders surrounding the trial of Saddam Hussein, seven exploding car bombs in Baghdad, ...
