Abu Ghraib photos?
Sorry if this has been discussed already, but shouldn't we be seeing the remaining Abu Ghraib photos soon, as per judge Hellerstein? It feels like it's been 20 days already, but perhaps he mean *business* days, in which case the time still should be upon us soon, no? I haven't seen or heard much in the media regarding stonewalling or appeals, so I have to wonder if perhaps the Bushies are counting on the torrent of other bad news (indictments and what-not) to blunt the impact of the photos.

Can anyone offer anything definitive here?

1. Here is definitive:
no matter what happens re Hellerstein's order, the photos will not see the light of day. Most likely The Cabal will take another legal tack with a different judge, just as they did with the judge before Hellerstein. Otherwise the stuff will suffer sudden and irreversible damage in an unfortunate accident.

They simply are not going to let the American people know what has been done in their name.

3. It was twenty days last week
The judge gave a twenty day stay before the photos were released for appeals. The twenty days have passed. I keep looking for the photos too. I've check the ACLU page but haven't seen an update on the Darby photos since the ruling.

4. Wow, forgot those were in the pipeline, too...
Can you imagine the chaos if these come out around the same time as the indictments? I almost hope they don't, just so that both get the attention they deserve.

7. Update at the end of this story....
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/ACLU_U.S._operatives_killed_detainees_during_1024.html

The 20th day is tomorrow, Oct 26th.

If they're released, and Fitzmas comes early, tomorrow could be a very, very, VERY bad day to be a rethuglican...

8. update from kos
update from kos

CourtWeb, unfortunately, can sometimes be a bit slow in posting opinions and orders (and Judge Hellerstein doesn't always use it, anyway). CourtWeb would also not show any filing by a party, such as the notice of appeal. Having said that, a review of the docket on the PACER/ECF database (registration required) shows that, on Monday October 24, the ACLU filed papers in opposition to the CIA's motion for partial reconsideration. Later that same day, Judge Hellerstein signed an order further enlarging the stay, until November 1 to permit him time for consideration of the government motion and plaintiff's opposition. So sit tight everyone, we've got at least another week to wait.
