Something to think about with the Davis recall
If Davis IS ousted and replaced with a Republican, then that could help us, as it would be easier for us to hit Bush in Cali if Davis is NOT in the Governor's Mansion. Why? Because if he is gone then Bush will not be able to use Davis as a punching bag to rally voters to him. If we have a puke in the mansion and things fail to improve, then we can use it against Bush, and I doubt things can really be fixed in time for '04. While guilt by association is not legal in the courts, and is a dirty trick, it can help us secure the West Coast for '04 if we have Republicans to bash on both locally and nationally in the campaign.

1. Having the recall will not help us
This is bigger than just "supporting Davis". The Democrats need to hold California at all costs. Think about it, should something happen to Boxer or Feinstein(and believe me, something will) while there is Repuke governor in California then we are fucked.

2. It Wont get that far

Davis resigns , a selfless hero , to live and fight another day. Cruz Bustamente becomes Gov,thus making the recall moot. All the repug circus sideshow and millions of state funds expended makes them out to be the tremendous wack job horses asses they are, and CA stays democratic for the foreseeable future.

3. I'm against the recall
and I despise Davis. It's not about him. It's about Republicans having a recall all the time. They have recalled republican legislators who didn't vote their way. They blame the budget and electrical crisis on Davis, but both are Bush's fault.

4. Sorry, but having a Republican governor is NEVER a good thing
I live in New York, which has a Republican governor and a Republican mayor in NYC. As bad as things are here, I'd much rather have Democrats holding these positions. Pataki and Bloomberg are raising millions for the Bush campaign. A Republican governor of California would do the same.

If the Democrats believe that California has become to unmanageable and that they'd be better off with a Republican taking the heat in the governor's mansion, then the Democrats may as well pack up and go home.

If they recall effort fails in California the California GOP is probably history!
