Should we cut the partisanship of the Executive Branch out?
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 09:49 AM by ck4829
What would life have been like if we returned to electing the President the old way.

Imagine 2000...

Yes, ** would have been President.

BUT.

Al Gore would have been Vice-President.

And, in Bush's Administration that would have meant a lot.

Who thinks we should return to this?

1. What special powers are you talking about?
And you do realize only the first three or so presidential elections were run under such a system.

RW'ers are using the Presidency as a launching pad for their agenda.

That's got to stop.

Yes, I do realize that the first few elections were held like that, and I still think we should go back to it.

3. until we eliminate the two-party system and get money out of politics
presidential "elections" will always be flawed and administrations will always be more or less partisan (although this cabal is the most corrupt and partisan in history by far).

Like it or not, the repukes and the Democratic Party are part of the problem now, not part of the solution. The repukes are nothing more than an organized crime syndicate and the Democrats are ineffectual hogs, contentedly feeding at the corporate trough.

6. Amen to that! You hit the nail on the head
I also believe the two biggest problems facing the Republic is the two-party duopoly, the election system that maintains such a situation, and the tolerance of special interest money in politics.

4. Democracy is messy and flawed
But I'll take it over communism or a monarchistic dictatorship, any day.

But, America's Democracy is being torn apart at the seams.
