I just don't get it. By what right do Judy Miller or any of these
people, in government or out, think they had the right to make a choice for the entire nation to pick a fight with the world? I don't understand the kind of thought processes that go into taking it upon one's self to decide that it is okay to kill and maim thousands. How it becomes palatable to lie to do so. I keep watching this story that has been unfolding over the past several weeks. We've been discussing it here at DU for years now. The more time that passes the more blood is on the hands of these people. I heard someone say on one of the Sunday shows that Wolfowitz was the only one of this bunch of neocons that had a conscious. That's scary in and of itself.

Where did these people get off thinking that they act for the American people? They fabricated a story and made it happen. It was like freakin' writing the world's worst spy and war novel combined.

1. Those foound guilty....
...should face a firing squad or the gallows. This would be a good deterrent to such actions!

IMO, all those involved in the WHIG should be tried, and if found guilty, face the death penalty for treason.

4. They are narcissistic sociopaths. The only concern is for themselves.
They feel entitled to power, fame and riches. And will use any means
to obtain them. They are above the law, have no conscience, and care for no one but themselves.

6. It's the PNAC agenda.....
which makes it more than just a few people. World domination is their goal and nothing will deter them from trying to achieve that.
They thought 9/11 was their big chance to implement the PNAC plan. I think they weren't quite ready yet, that all of the pieces were not yet in place but they may never get another chance like this for a long time. They jumped at the chance but a lot of decisions were made on the fly and like all other decisions that aren't well thought out or hastily made, mistakes ensued. Big mistakes. They got caught and their plans have been pushed back or perhaps stopped dead in their tracks forever. I wouldn't expect them to go down without a fight though. Like cornered animals they're to be treated with extreme caution and vigilance. We can never allow these people or anyone like them to handle the reins of power again.

7. That's the point of top-down government. The people in the "know"
make judegements on items like that because the information they use is classified. Here's some arguments that would make you understand. Let's say that peak oil is real and coming soon. There will not be enough gasoline to create fertilizer and run tractors for farms, so half the population of the planet will starve to death. They will not starve quietly. The gov't will have to tell the population that their SUV loving, plastic society is dying and that things are going to get bad and we must sacrifice out life styles and riches to accomodate the rest of the world. Let's face it - how much would the population of our country really sacrifice for the benefit of the whole planet? So our government is making the decision as to who is really going to do the sacrifice. Iraq, Syria, Iran etc. Every nation that we have screwed over the locals so that their natural resources benefit us instead of them.

That has been the way our country has been working since WW2. Who's going to decide who will starve? One theory is that the viruses are being grown to kill half the population so they won't starve. We either change our attitude to the rest of the world or continue. I don't believe we have the guts in this country to change a lifestye that is very desstructive to the rest of the world.

8. By the Divine Right of KIngs
By the right of being rich and powerful. By the right of belonging to the most exclusive country clubs.

simple isn't it? It's the way things have worked ever since we had our first Chieftan, Shaman, Council of Elders.

9. "the ends justify the means" mentality...
is what makes them think they have the right. They do have the US interests and democracy(as they define it)in mind.

Like most DUers, I disagree with innocent lives being lost or crimes being committed for whatever ends they hope to achieve. But like Watergate and Iran/Contra it won't prevent them from trying.
