Rice outlines Iraq victory strategy on Capitol Hill
Rice outlines Iraq victory strategy on Capitol Hill
by Gerry J. Gilmore
American Forces Press Service

The coming year should witness more Iraqi security forces taking on insurgents and securing territory as a lasting democratic system is established, the senior U.S. diplomat told a Senate panel Wednesday.

The key to victory over the insurgency in Iraq, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Senate Committee on Foreign Relations members, is to "clear areas from insurgent control, hold them securely, and build durable, national Iraqi institutions."

American service men and women are fighting in Iraq "at a pivotal time in world history," Rice said. Efforts to defeat the insurgents "must succeed," she said, if the Iraqis are to be successful in establishing an inclusive, democratic government unique in the Middle East.

"Let's work together on how we will win," Rice said, calling for increased collaboration between U.S., coalition, and Iraqi security forces, as well as help from the Congress.

2. isn't it "wise" to wrap up with a "victory in Iraq" speech, and then
target Syria? Predictable, too.

4. "We take everybody and put them on the roof top of our new Embassy
and then fly in a bunch of helicopters and pick them all up and then we declare victory!" Simple.

:sarcasm:

5. Wow. That's some deep thinking, Condi.

A child could come up with that "strategy". Keepin' it simple for the base,
I guess.

I think what those darned insurgents need is a good $1000.00 pair of
shoes. (It would be cheaper than this damned war!)

8. There is Rice and then there is REALITY.....
Contrast her delusional rantings with the reality in Iraq....

bombings up by a third and way more effective, etc...

But, as is so often the case, the attacker had vanished down one of Dour's maze-like alleys.

Instead the Americans were confronted with sullen Iraqis, holding their terrified children to their sides. An old woman sat on her bed, clutching her heart, as the soldiers interrogated the family.

"They heard nothing, they saw nothing, same as ******* usual," said Sgt Jody Miller. Taking another deep drag from his cigarette, he turned to the company's translator.

"Tell them to tell us where the bad guys are so we stop frigging shooting up their houses," he said.

Nobody was hurt but the mutual distrust between the Americans and the local community deepened just a little bit more.

9. As long as we work against people, we'll have only tangential success.
The opposite is also true.

10. Let's analyze her statements:
"...more Iraqi security forces taking on insurgents".

This is their latest delusion. The Pentagon believes they can train Iraqis to turn against their own people, aim at them and shoot. Most Iraqis are not willing to kill their own people. They're tribal, and they're extremely close-knit. This idea was born out of desperation, about 2 years ago, when the Pentagon saw that there was NO way they were going to win as occupiers. Also, I believe there is only 1 Iraqi battalion that's up to speed.

"...securing territory".

Think about this for a minute. We've been in Iraq for 3 years, and we can't even secure territory? The world's strongest army, fighting in a country with NO military. And we can't even do that.

"The key to victory is to clear areas from insurgent control".

Again, here CondaLiar is falling into the trap of just wiping people out, killing huge numbers of civilians, will do the trick. Condi can't comprehend that almost all the insurgents are Iraqis. They want their country back.

11. I thought "mission [was] accomplished"
a few years ago when Chimpy stood on that flight deck in his jumpsuit with his dick bulging out of the harness. I guess Condoleasta didn't get the message.

13. Hmmm, something missing
When do we unleash the flying monkeys and the magical fairy dust to win victory in Iraq? 'Cause without that, I just don't see it happening.
