Danger Danger House Republicans? Hopefully.
http://blogs.washingtonpost.com/thefix/
a few snips

The Fix checked with two of the most vulnerable House Republicans to gauge whether the possible indictments of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove or Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was a hot topic of discussion last week when House members were back in their home districts.

Connecticut Rep. Chris Shays (R) said Wednesday that he "heard some concern from constituents about the Valerie Plame leak, and I have some concerns myself." Shays also praised special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's "aggressive investigation."

Another prominent Republican consultant, who was granted anonymity so that he could speak freely, said that while "it's difficult to say that White House indictments will have a major, direct impact on a specific race ... it will make our problems with the national political environment even worse -- upgrading a hurricane from category three to category four, it takes bad news and makes it worse."

1. Shays really could take a beating
He only got 52% last time and the strong Democratic lean of his district will make it very easy for us to whip up support based on BushCo's corruption. This is exactly the type of seat we need to win to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker.

3. I agree. I'd be happy to drive down from MA and volunteer
for a Democratic challenger. Any contenders yet?

4. I want every Dem seat we can get, but isn't Shays one of the few
reasonable Pubs? I know, I know, get rid of them all, but I'd much rather see the radical idiots gone, and knowing we have to live with some Pubs, I'd rather it be Sheas, Collins, etc.

6. He's reasonable
But in 2006 no Republican can be given a free pass, especially in a district like this.

7. The idea of cherry picking the Republicans you like in 2006..
is a recipe for disaster. Every Republican is at the beck and call of the likes of Delay and Hastert.

Bush has no trouble seeing everything in black and white. Dean and the dems have to play it the same way.
