Is there any kind of time limit on indictments vs. empanel new Grand Jury?

If there is, I'd just as soon limit or eliminate my GD exposure until then, LOL.

The current Grand Jury runs out. Fish or cut bait, at that point.

... he can ask a judge to empanel a new grand jury.

But, somewhere in the federal prosecutors' rules of conduct, there is a stipulation that if indictments aren't delivered in, I think, something like three years, he has to abandon the investigation. If, after that, there's new material evidence, he can ask to have the case reopened.

So, yeah, if there are no indictments, he can ask for a new grand jury--but, he'd probably have to convince a judge that it was for the purposes of finishing up on the basis of recently-discovered evidence. To go to a judge without a body of evidence already, and ask for a new grand jury just to keep on keeping on probably wouldn't fly.

One way or another--we'll know by Oct. 28th, or sooner. :)

3. He can ask for an extension

I think he can ask for a 6-month extension of the grand jury term.
