Guys... do me a favor? DU this poll about Sen. Kit Bond (R - Missouri)...
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 06:23 PM by Darkhawk32
Some folks want Kit Bond's name all over the University of Missouri-Columbia's new Life Sciences building which was funded by pork spending from Senator Bond.

I say batsqueeze to that. He didn't do anything other than raid the federal coffers to pay for it. It took nothing special to do other than being a "team player" for Frist, Delay and Co.

Vote this poll "NO" please!!!

Thanks.

12. I recall a news story back when he was Gov
He was criticized when he was approached at home by a member of Mizzou's marching band during a fundraising drive. He told the kid "I'm not donating, I didn't graduate from Mizzou". He was governor at the time.

16. I don't remember that since I came to Missouri back in '83.
I was 10 years old and Bond was out of office by '84 (Jan '85).

Kit must be facing a tough re-election race. When he was governor he was very unpopular for cutting funds to higher education.

26. No... we're stuck with Bond until 2012. Just got reelected last November.
Missouri Democratic Party threw up a sacrificial lamb who did no real campaigning.

But if it happens, you can always make a point of pride of calling it by its former name, like I do with National (now Reagan National) Airport in Washington.

http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051019/NEWS07/510190350/1090

snip

"Bond rejected the suggestion that he voted for a pay increase, characterizing it as a cost-of-living adjustment for lawmakers.

"I believe it makes no sense, unless it's part of a major reduction in many areas, to deny those members of Congress who may be on tight budgets, supporting a family, the ability to keep pace with the cost of goods they buy," Bond said.

Bond also said denying lawmakers a pay increase "will have little impact on the deficit."
