I missed O'Lielly on TDS.
(My son's ball game went to extra innings.) Can anyone share the highlights with me?

7. Wasn't that great?
Jon didn't have to do anything. Bill just made an ass of himself by flapping his piehole.

One thing I really admire about Jon is, no matter what, he respects his guest. He's had some pretty odious characters on there, and he'll respectfully disagree with them, but he does it civilly. He chastised his audience for applauding when Bill was talking about retirement. Jon's a class act.

Definitely watch the rerun, it's a new Jon Stewart greatest classic, imho.

5. I think John did an amazing job in
showing restraint in front of such a huge asshat. There were a few times I wished John would have cut O'Lier off at the knees.

8. Re-runs @ 4PM ET. Jon Was Brilliant & Fearless & O'LOOFAH Got Booed
Plus, Keith summed up the Newsday article from yesterday that said O'LOOFAH is saying the R-word ("retirement") in about two years. And Keith yelled, "Yesss! We'be WON! We've WON!" And to the quote where O'LOOFAH says his job is to fight EVIL, Keith said, "Buddy, Evil TOOK YOU OVER long ago!" Then he threw papers at the camera and then skipped around the desk yelling, "Oh Joy, Oh Joy, the wicked witch is DEAD!"

But don't count on O'LOOFAH's retirement. He's a greedy, attention-needy WEASEL.

It was a great night for ideological entertainment for us.

9. Stewart very subtly made a fool of O'Reilly
O'Reilly was incredibly aggressive. He implied that the Daily Show writers and Stewart don't really care about people, but only want to make fun of things (they only wanted to laugh about Hurricane Katrina, was the charge). Stewart, rather than fighting him, countered with agreement: "We do add insult to injury." O'Reilly fell right into the trap: "At least he's honest about it." Then Stewart nails him: "But you add the injury." That was early on, and I think O'Reilly knew he was bested at that point. O'Reilly is a blowhard who "wins" debates through shouting and controlling the capacity of his opponents to speak. He has no timing, no sparring ability, no wit, no verbal cleverness. He was outmatched completely.

Stewart went on the push O'Reilly on his hatred of the French, who O'Reilly called "Our enemies." The audience booed him. He began yelling at the audience, asking them if they loved French wine or something equally stupid. They booed louder. An angry O'Reilly then called Jon Stewart a "pinhead." Stewart ignored him, and kept up on the French thing, seeing that it was driving O'Reilly into apoplexia. O'Reilly sputtered and stuttered something about trusting no politicians, and when Stewart asked "OK. Then you're on our team?" O'Reilly said "No," curtly.

And then the coup-d'grace. Stewart holds up O'Reilly's book and says "The O'Reilly Factor (loooooooooooong pregnant pause) for KIDS." It was more like a quizzical question than a declaration. As in "for KIDS???" The point was obvious: Who in their right mind would buy a children's book from this maniac?

Absolute clock cleaning by Stewart. Perhaps even a TV classic.

12. excellent recap
I also thought Stewart did a masterful job by underplaying. It just made O'Reilly look all the more obnoxious and desperate.
I mean, the French? That's the cheapest, most hackneyed tirade in the arsenal. Sure. It used to always be good for a laugh. Five years ago.

10. why is it that anyone would still dare to say that "no WMD were found"
is a lie from the left? It is hillarious how self-deceiving some people can be in Public????No wonder he has to fight the evil people out there, 'cause it's too hard to fight the one inside....he already lost that fight....

11. I like how he handles the right wing journalists
passive agressive and talks over their heads, in a way that they probably never talk. Very clever man.

14. I loved "Marcie?"
You keep going after Marcie. Why don't you go after Lucy, she's the problem.

15. I loved the part where Olielly said "I attack people who are bad &
need attacking" and Jon said "When will you start doing that?" - not verbatim but something like that.
