Repuke donors Ruth's Chris bail on New Orleans
and it took them all of two freepin' days after Katrina to pull out -- for Orlando! :puke:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/09/09/BUGNCEKUBQ1.DTL&type=business

As the executives debated whether to operate out of temporary quarters in another city while keeping their headquarters just outside New Orleans or to relocate permanently, they decided that there were simply too many unknowns about the future of the city where their nationwide chain of 88 restaurants got its start.

How long would the airport remain closed to commercial traffic? How soon would their office building and the surrounding area be accessible? Where would the 58 people who work at the headquarters live?

Answers: a) a few weeks; b) in a few weeks; c) you're good loyal repukes, ask FEMA. :grr:

Extra style points for shifting blame to the shareholders:

But that storm did not overwhelm New Orleans the way Katrina did. Nor did it pose the same challenge to Ruth's Chris, a newly public company with a responsibility to shareholders it has never before known. :puke: :puke: :puke:

That's 58 fewer decent corporate jobs -- repuke-leaning or not -- that we now have to rebuild around. Real classy move, guys. :sarcasm: Might I suggest we get our steaks elsewhere? I've heard good things about Morton's...
