1st School in New Orleans Eastbank reopened today
St Louis Cathedral Academy opened for business this morning to all students regardless of religion or ability to pay the tuition.

This good news comes as New Orleanians are once again tracking a potential hurricane in the gulf.

3. Hi Rubyduby
Sorry I was such a knucklehead yesterday. I can't get access to our safe deposit box, I'm having a hilarious time with FEMA and my Saints got "beat" yesterday by the hated Falcons. I guess I just didn't take that game very well yesterday. I'm somewhat of a sore loser. How's things in Georgia? I was stationed at NAS Atlanta in the mid 90's. Had a great time, especially when visiting Helen.

4. Hey there Boss!
I personally feel that everybody gets one "crotchety" day a week, so yesterday was yours. And don't ever feel bad about being a sore loser - I'm still bitter about 2000 and let everybody know it every once in a while! haha!

Things in Georgia are peachy this time of year! Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day. Hi was in the mid 70s and sunny all day and today is turning out to be a carbon copy.

I'm really glad to hear about that school reopening today. It's good to see things returning to some semblence of "normal" after taking such a huge hit this year. My hubby and I are planning on coming there soon. Neither one of us has ever been to NOLA and we want to do our little part to help out the tourism economy that has suffered so much. My parents were there in April and still rave about what a wonderful time they had. My mom cried every night watching the tragic events unfold during Katrina. They're planning another trip for next spring.

And you tell those jerks that I said to let you into your safe deposit box. That oughta do it! ha!

6. Check out NOLA.COM
for travel info. Also neworleanscvb.com (convention and visitors bureau). Good info. The best way to do your trip is to get a hotel in the quarter and take a shuttle into the city from the airport. You probably won't need a rental car. Driving is a pain in the butt, especially if you have never been here before. And you don't need a car to go anywhere in the Quarter. If you want to take a Swamp Tour you can get a shuttle at the Hotel door, and cab service in the city is (was) very reliable. Hopefully by next spring things will be fairly normal. The Bourbon-Orleans Hotel is smack dab in the middle of the quarter and on Bourbon Street. I would not recommend staying in a Hotel on Canal. Too decentralized. You'd have to stay for a couple of years to check out all the good restaurants. We highly recommend the Alpine Bistro on Chartres Street. Nice but not fancy. Service and food have always been excellent. However, there are hundreds of great places to eat, all within walking distance of damn near every Hotel in the Quarter. Believe it or not I don't work for the chamber of commerce, I just truly love the city.

21-23 APRIL 2006 - The French Quarter Festival. Live free music throughout the quarter and food and drink booths all over. Always an incredible time. Hopefully, the festival will go on next year. We've gone for years and love it more each time.

We hope yall get to make the trip.

5. Very good news, BOSS
I wonder where this storm will end up? The cone looks like LA, but the computer models are still all over the place.

We have the generator ready to go. I don't mind late storms as much as earlier ones because it isn't as hot out. You can live and breathe without AC.
