5. Toast.
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 12:22 AM by kgfnally
Serve toasted bread- the most flavorful and exotic bread you can find- with fresh jam or preserves.

Use a honeyed butter. MMMMMM-mmmmm!

edit: Cheese toast is pretty good, too. Simply lightly toast the bread, sprinkled with your favorite grated cheese, and then pop it into the over at 400 deg. until the cheese is completely melted. You'll have to time it well, though- you want the cheese to be warm and stringy (like in a pizza commercial) when it's served.

10. The Blues Brothers meal: pepper steak!
Made with really cheap beef and cut-up green peppers, and soaked in gravy. It is actually fairly edible...unless you have to eat it every day for ten to twenty years, as Joliet Jake Blues had to. (It wasn't the heroin that killed Belushi, it was the pepper steak he ate.)

13. another cheese suggestion
I saw this on FoodTV: on a buttered or oil-sprayed cookie sheet, sprinkle shallow, wide, cohesive piles of your favorite grated cheese. At 425 deg., cook until just melted.

Now the fun part. Using a shot glass or other small object with height, spatula out the cheese (it should stay in a 'cheese plate' sort of item while melted) and drape it over the object. Allow it to cool and harden, and then fill with an appropriate mixture. Use your imagination. The idea is for the cheese to be the container for your filling once the cheese cools and hardens.

I haven't tried it yet, but it sure sounds yummy!

17. Dicks Clam Bake Dip
INGREDIENTS:
6 slices bacon
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
2 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams
10 drops hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™), or to taste
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until crisp. Drain, crumble and set aside.
In a medium bowl, stir cream cheese until smooth. Stir one can of clams with juice into the cream cheese. Drain the other can, reserving the juice, and stir those clams in as well. Mix in the hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Stir in crumbled bacon. Cover and refrigerate dip and reserved clam juice for one hour.
Remove dip from the refrigerator, and stir in just enough of the reserved clam juice to make the dip soft enough to dip a chip into.

42. WMD casserole
2 megaton kielbasa (these are the WMD). Boil and brown the kielbasa first. Put them in a big baking dish.

Smother sausages in a creamy casserole or cheese sauce, tinted uranium yellow with tumeric. Paprika on top--in shape of international warning symbol for radiation hazard.

20 asparagus spears (the pasty white ones would be the ugliest, but green will do). Asparagus should be cascading around the edges of the dish. Arrange them like fallen aspens.

Stick a big fork in each kielbasa.

Serve yellowcake and elephant cookies for dessert.
