Woo-hoo Chuck D ON RANT - people who got fixated on Farrakhan
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 10:55 PM by IndyOp
'calling Farrakhan anti-semitic GET OVER IT!'

Clarify: Chuck D is expressing frustration/rage at people who fixated on Farrakhan as a way of dismissing the entire Million More March event. There were dozen's of speakers. 100,000's of citizens attended.

I listened to Farrakhan's speech and found nothing objectionable - no anti-semitism, no homophobia. I don't agree with everything he said, but he spoke well for his community (and the entire African Diaspora). He slammed * and he urged people to take grassroots action.

Fixating on his past statements - without even listening to his speech this weekend - without putting him within the larger context of the March *is* dimissing the people's very serious concerns.

NOW on AAR -- On the Real!

1. ?
Is he calling him anti-semitic or saying people should get over his anti-semitism?

2. He is saying that people who could not talk about anything
regarding the Million More March - except Farrakhan's past anti-semitic statements - should focus on the fact that Farrakhan was NOT the main event, he was one person out of dozens of speakers and 100,000's of citizens. Focusing on Farrakhan's past objectionable statements is a tactic to dismiss the event and everyone who had anything to do with it.
