I heard the same Bullshit about Vietnam thirty five years ago.
Great progress being made.
US can't pull out.
Democracy is growing.
No timetable for withdrawal.
We are winning the war.
Protesters are traitors.
Support our troops (which really means support the fucked up policies)

Maybe thirty five years from now my grandkids will have to listen to this same bullshit....if we're still around.

1. Nope...won't be enough left to to pull any "pre-emptive" bullshit, but
might be enough left to be the occupied nation instead.

bush is running us into the ground and could care less as long as his rich buddies make a profit - "the rest of america can go screw herself...but wait til we're done with ya first."

...and the "dems" ain't gonna save us.

2. I had a conservative history professor who said all nations use the same
excuses and slogans for every war. God is on our side, they'll be home by Christmas, they enemy is bayonetting babies in the streets, if we don't fight them there we will fight them here. A few details change (dumping babies from incubators rather than bayonetting them), but it's always the same.

Many years have passed
yet still I wonder why:
The worst of men must fight.
And the best of men must die/

4. great list to which I'd add: we can't let them have died in vain
which is what makes it so difficult to get out.
