It is like a snowball rolling down a mountain getting bigger and bigger as each minute goes by.

1. The media got what they want from Bush*
They got media consolidation, thanks to Michael Powell, so now they no longer need to defend Bush*

3. The combination of en endless war/occupation, soldiers dying,
and everything else has finally gotten their attention. Or maybe they felt they couldn't make enough money by continuing the broadcasts of fake, fascist patriotism.

5. I was arguing this idea months ago and people were shooting
it down. Here goes......

They knew all along that lies were part of the rationale. However, this was their way of getting two great stories...
1. The invasion story
2. Quagmire of lies/Occupation of Iraq story
They really are media whores. Anything for the ratings.

6. It's really quite simple:
It's the end result of sociopathy. Sociopaths(either individuals or groups.) lack impulse control and insight. They just don't know when to stop, what behaviors will have negative effects on their lives, and that their actions will ultimately have consequences that they will have to address, usually painfully. The maladministration is clearly a sociopathic grouping, with the Boss Dog Sociopaths at the top. They apparently feel the the normal rules of society do not apply to them. What they fail to recognize is that every society has "societal norms", points that, when they strayed outside of, causes society at large to react, usually in a negative manner.

That's what happened. Like all sociopaths, they have gone "a bridge too far" and now are being called to account by the society they live within.

Look for squirming, flailing and denial by the manure-spreader in the days ahead. Such are the ways of the true sociopath.

14. I agree...
because so much of the country wrapped themselves in flags and joined the Bush bandwagon after the WTC attacks, it then became hard to do anything but stay with the crowd.

After a certain point, though, people start feeling ashamed of allowing things to progress to this point. Many could overlook certain actions, excuse others, and just go with the false patriotic fervor. They have simply gone so far that the press, the public, even a large number of Republicans can no longer go along with it.

My own amazement has been that it's taken this long for people to finally start saying "enough."

Sociopathy. I think it's hard even for us, knowing as much as we do about what these people have been doing, to accept this about them. It may not be literally true about every single person in the upper reaches of this cabal, but it is certainly true of several of them in the most prominent positions, including the "president."

And your description of how it plays out here is perfect.

7. He challenged them to a penis-waving contest on the carrier?
I really think the aircraft carrier photo-op was a turning point. After that day, it became much more difficult to pretend that Bill Clinton is responsible for all of the Chimp's mistakes and also he tried to demasculate any man who opposes him.

Just the thought of the thing still makes me sick, but I think the frat-boy locker-room trick has backfired.

when I place the shift. The convergence of *'s fantasy with real world consequences of war. People sensed on a visceral level what a phony he was. It was like when Reagan started to confuse Hollywood WW2 movies with reality.

The "bring it on" was more of the same and only exacerbated the problem.

8. I think the pictures of blood soaked vehicles
and dead american soldiers finally did it.

Dispite the fact that the die-hard freeptard population is pro-war/anti-america, and will keep cheering shrub while he gets americans killed, the rest of america doesnt believe in him or the war anymore.

Now they have found out that those soldiers are out there taking rpg rounds in the face because he lied... its just too much, they finally broke.

It reminds me of that lady who killed her own kids, rolled them into a lake and then went on TV claiming a black man did it. There wer big crowds protesting, shouting about how innocent she was and how someone like her could never do that. Then she admitted she lied. Sure she went to jail, she will do her time, but those people who held up those signs for her and made fools of themselves... shes lucky they didnt cruficy her on the spot. People dont like being made fools of.

10. I hope its snowballing and not just a fling
I can't help but think this is the result of declining summer ratings and a slow news period; They are just desperate for something to fill the hours.

If things really get hot for Bush I fear they will jump in and save him in the end.

11. We didn't find any WMD
This would never have happened (big fuss over the lie) had we found stockpiles of other types of WMD.

We were all afraid Bush was right about Iraq. If he went in and found all the terrible things he said he would he would call us traitors for trying to stop him. He would have said we didn't want to rid the world of weapons. We didn't want peace. (The argument Ann Coulter makes. gag)

The Dems would have never dug out of that hole. We're still running a risk. If they find WMD all this blows over.

the media has blood on their hands for cheerleading this illegal war. They're trying to make themselves feel better by saying they were duped.

17. They might feel better but they'll NEVER remove the stain
Even if the American public remains brainwashed by the media after they are no longer brainwashed by the cabal, the WHOLE WORLD has been watching. Everyone in the rest of the world knows the horrendous role the American media have played in all this. Meaning not just the illegal and unjustified war, but the rape of the economy and the theft of the election.

18. The war didn't live up to its billing.
And the walls came crashing down.

No WMDs. US soldiers being picked off daily are disillusioned and resent being there, as the Iraqis resent their presence as well, and Tony Blair is being strapped to the mast.

Impossible to ignore

21. I'd like to add the efforts of The Dixie Chicks
I think they were instrumental in taking the case of dissent to the forefront. They did it, however wisely, and the public showed that they supported the - whether it be that they are great musicians, great patriots, or, just looked great naked on the cover the Stone, I can't say, but their actions resonated with people and they not only survived, but got a career boost.

Then, like the posts above pointed out, the rest of the crap that * has pulled got to be enough to people and the press and candidates felt they could speak out more. The timeline works.

The Chicks may or may not have been the first, but they certainly deserve some credit.

22. I'm not convinced it won't all "go away" within a few days.
There is a kind of struggle going on between the forces of Mordor and the forces of Light. Declaring victory at this point seems very premature to me.
