Bush Teleconference With Soldiers Staged

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! This article deserves 5 STARS!!

"OK, so let's just walk through this," Barber said. "Captain Kennedy, you answer the first question and you hand the mike to whom?"

"Captain Smith," Kennedy said.

"Captain. Smith? You take the mike and you hand it to whom?" she asked.

"Captain Kennedy," the soldier replied.

And so it went.

"If the question comes up about partnering — how often do we train with the Iraqi military — who does he go to?" Barber asked.

"That's going to go to Captain Pratt," one of the soldiers said.

"And then if we're going to talk a little bit about the folks in Tikrit — the hometown — and how they're handling the political process, who are we going to give that to?" she asked.

2. Al Franken talked about this today...
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 05:07 PM by madame defarge
Some of this info is actually in a public transcript somewhere, including this comment just before they went live: "Ok guys, this one's for the money..."

Also he talked about what they planned to do if the presidunce asked an unscripted question...like that will ever happen...other than, "hey guys, what do you do to work out?"

On Edit: Franken was talking with Oliphant. Also said that the Iraqi only knew about three words of English: "I like you..."

4. This kind of coaching went on in Vietnam also.
One day while I was in Vietnam a reporter from my home town called together a group of us from the same local area. He asked if any of us wanted to make a statement about the war for our the local paper, the Dayton Daily News. All of us were pretty disgusted with the war by then and wanted to say that, so we all volunteered.

The reporter handed me a statement to read which said in effect that I supported President Johnson and the war effort. When I told him that that's not how I really felt, he told me that I couldn't make any other statement. I could only say what was written. I did not make a statement that day.

9. Yep same shit. .........
Vietraq, anyway I wish I could zoom in closer on todays fiasco and see the soldiers eyes, I swear they were 'reading' and not just going off memory, or just pre-memorized lines. It's the 'cue card' eyes going side to side, the obvious bad speech continuity in their performance that really disturbed me. Oh to get ahold of one of those cue cards. That would be sweet. :) Peace. And by the way thank's for your service in Nam. :patriot:

6. "So long as I'm the president, we're never going to back down,"

......."And then if we're going to talk a little bit about the folks in Tikrit — the hometown — and how they're handling the political process, who are we going to give that to?" she asked.

Before he took questions, Bush thanked the soldiers for serving and reassured them that the U.S. would not pull out of Iraq until the mission was complete.

"So long as I'm the president, we're never going to back down, we're never going to give in, we'll never accept anything less than total victory," Bush said.

The president told them twice that the American people were behind them......
