Bwahahahaha -- Earle Subpoenas DeLay Phone Records
AUSTIN, Texas - A Texas prosecutor subpoenaed telephone records for the home phone of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and the phone of his political campaign Thursday.

Also subpoenaed by prosecutor Ronnie Earle were records for two numbers for DeLay's daughter, Dani DeLay Ferro.

DeLay is facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy in a Texas campaign finance case.

The subpoenas list telephone numbers, but not whom they belong to. They ask for information about the calls, voice mail service at the numbers and long distance calls made from or charged to the numbers.

1. The question was asked
I think CNN if this is just back & forth politics or truly continuing investigation. I would like to think it is ongoing investigation- opinions?

for CNN though, it is par for the course. It's not like they have much acquaintance with real news.

"The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in 2002 that DeLay’s personal financial disclosures for Congress reported that Alexander Strategy Group paid DeLay’s wife $40,000 a year. A DeLay spokesperson told the Star-Telegram that Christine DeLay actually was paid for running ARM PAC—an Alexander Group client." source: http://www.tpj.org/page_view.jsp?pageid=721&pubid=483 Texans for Public Justice website.

DeLay's corporate owners pump money into his corrupt ARAMPAC. Then he 'hires' his family to 'work' for the PAC. Wonder how often his wife and daughter even showed up to 'work'? Just another money laundering scheme, IMHO.

DeLay blasts media over report of payments to family
From Ted Barrett
CNN Washington Bureau
Wednesday, April 6, 2005 Posted: 8:17 PM EDT (0017 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay defended his family Wednesday, saying newspaper articles about his wife and daughter and about his trip to Russia were "seedy" efforts by the "liberal media" to humiliate him.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that DeLay's wife and daughter have been paid more than $500,000 since 2001 by DeLay's political action and campaign committees, according to a detailed review of disclosure statements filed with the Federal Election Commission and separate fund-raising records in Texas.

The newspaper reports were the latest political controversies for DeLay. He has been admonished three times by the House Ethics Committee, and he faces possible indictment in Texas in connection with a campaign finance probe.

The Times said the payments to DeLay's wife, Christine DeLay, and his only child, Dani DeLay Ferro, were described in the disclosure forms as "fund-raising fees," "campaign management" or "payroll," with no additional details about how they earned the money.

20. Hot tubs! Champagne!
From 4/6/05: Today's NYT feature highlights the gadzooks of money that Tom DeLay's daughter in particular has raked in through DeLay's connections. Atrios beat me to the archives for this gem, but I'll post it anyway:

The weekend included a late-night party Saturday in DeLay's suite at the Rio Hotel and Casino, which featured a living room, bar and hot tub on the balcony. DeLay was not present, aides said; the event was hosted by his daughter, Dani Ferro, the campaign manager for DeLay's reelection campaign. After the party, Ferro told associates that a lobbyist poured champagne on her while she was in the hot tub.

67. The godless liberals at Texas A&M corrupted his poor daughter.
He got into hot water back in '02:

DeLay was speaking at a Baptist church near Houston, Texas. A parent, after complaining that too few universities teach creationism, asked him for suggestions on colleges.

"Dont send your kids to BaylorAnd dont send your kids to A&M," DeLay answered, to vigorous applause. "There are still some Christian schools out there—good, solid schools. Now, they may be little, they may not be as prestigious as Stanford, but your kids will get a good, solid, godly education."

www.answersingenesis.org/docs2002/0425delay.asp

Texas A&M, with its Cadet Corps, is mot known as a hotbed of radicalism. Baylor was founded by the Southern Baptists & they still run it. But both schools are fully accredited universities with real science departments.

25. "The thing is no big deal,"
said Bill White attorney for DeLay.
<snip>
"It seems to me he should have been doing it the last three years. Now is a little late to start checking on his evidence," White said.

Sure it's no big deal Bill, after all weren't there already piles of phone records that were gone over by the original GJ? Oh, wait, those weren't DeLays phone records... they were Jim Ellis and John Colyandro's. The same two men that Tom DeLay turned his back on when things began to heat up more than a year ago now. Gee wiz, do you think they may have mentioned that they've spoken to their old buddy Tom on his daughter's phone before? Nah, why would they do a thing like that when Tom's been so good to them in the past.
