NPR about an hour ago.
They were talking about bush's* teleconference and played some audio of his remarks. Then they mentioned another video they watched which showed the soldiers rehearsing their questions and answers to a bush* prop played by another soldier .This should be on the late night shows.

1. It was mentioned in passing on the Al Franken
show. Let's hope some comedian picks up on this. It'd be nice if some Democrat made hay of Bush not appearing before people who are not handpicked.

2. it has been on the ap radio news breaks on the am radio station i am
listening to. every half an hour they have the same report telling about the teleconference.... the report ends with "It was a message Bush wanted the American people wanted to hear, and just to make sure they heard it correctly, Pentagon officials are seen in another video rehearsing the questions that the President would ask with the soldiers." This is on an AM oldies station for god sakes. Awesome.

3. Talking about it on MSNBC now
Of course, the "analyst" is saying they might have been coached, but probably meant what they were saying anyway.

I just think it's interesting that the MSM is actually even mentioning the coached interview... that's a new twist.

I think I heard Miles O'Brien make a crack about practicing questions ahead of time. Miles was one snarky little newsreader this morning. At one point he and Soledad were schooling the weather guy on global warming.

As always, I could be wrong. I was barely awake at the time. But I know for sure I saw them go off about global warming and get in a jab at the weather guy.

6. Thanks for posting this. It's an important story.
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 01:53 PM by Neil Lisst
If you missed it, folks, Bush had a folksy talk with about 8 soldiers in Iraq, who each answered various set up questions by Bush, all to support the war effort.

It was tepid, at best, awkward and staged at worst.

Then the tapes showed up that Bush didn't know about - of the rehearsals by the soldiers to get the answers right! It's going to be comedy talk show grist for the humor mill.

Great story.

8. So just to have a conversation with 8 soldiers, he needs a script?
He just keeps on getting more and more pathetic.

I mean, presumably they picked 8 Bush-supporting soldiers to start with . . . and he STILL needed lots of practice.

22. Are those actual Chimpy quotes?
The frog thing definitely sounds like something he'd dribble out of his mouth. The other one, though, had to have been uttered under the influence of prime Colombian blow if it was in fact real.

Please tell me you made these up. Or that you didn't make them up.

and I would add that along with this it should be shouted to the high hills and everywhere...

You can't continue to fool people forever. They have seen the incompetence and corruption, and they are rejecting it. we are done with the culture of corruption!

14. Mike Malloy nailed in in real time!
Mike Malloy was subbing for Jerry Springer this morning on AAR and playing bits as it was happening ... he kept saying that it was obviously staged, the questions memorized, etc.

Mike will have a field day with this tonight! 10:00 p.m., Eastern!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

16. When I heard on the news this morning that the Pentagon...
was happy with the questions they got from the soldiers I knew right then and there it was because they gave them the damned questions. I know too many service personnel to buy the fact that they are the administration's lap dogs. There is a mass of seething anger in the military right now. And let's face it. A pointed question to the Commander in Chief might not look all that good on your next fit rep. Regardless, I know some people who would be more than willing to report to the brig for the opportunity to say what they really want to say.

I don't know whether to be disgusted, laugh out loud, or feel sorry for this pathetic little idiot. Just when you think he can't possibly make more of a fool of himself, he does it again, only worse.
