Is this right wing assault on her nothing more than an elaborate ruse to ensure that a crazy right winger gets on the Supreme Court?

1. Fellow DUers ... I would like to say that I'm tired of worrying about it.

I certainly don't want to offend.

But I've decided to sit back and watch the Right manipulate, lie, and maneuver so much - that they confuse themselves.

The "Roberts" thing turned out a bit better that I thought it would - in the sense that Roberts and Rehnquist are clones, and now, we will have more of the same.

I'm hoping for a miracle - getting a progressive-minded jurist in there - into O'Connor's spot; of course, that's a pipedream.

But I've resigned myself to the fact that our filibustering, if it occurs, will be largely ineffective, because of pervasive Rethuglican control - ALTHOUGH, a moderate MAY get in there due to fears on the part of those running in 2006.

2. That's what I thought at first. I wonder now, though, if it costs Bush any

shred of image as a leader he has. I'm beginning to think it was a collossal miscalculation by Bush and now he will have to do something he hates to do-admit he was wrong.

although I have no idea why he thinks history will look fondly upon this appointment. Then again, his presidency is mired with such boneheaded moves.

Democrats are more likely to vote for this woman than not, making a bait-and-switch more likely to lead to Democratic opposition than outright suggesting a conservative. When they already have enough votes lined up--55--to ensure she passes, why do this? Why hurt the president?

How is this "tactic" going to ensure another right winger in SCOTUS? The only tactic they have is not nominating anyone who isn't a crazy right winger, so one'll have to stick. That, and they take advantage of loopholes in procedure to install them unchallenged.

If this is indeed a tactic, it is to distract from the fact that nearly the entire administration is linked to Plamegate, if not all of them, and they need to put their hypnotised fundie drones' attention on something that won't make their heads explode before the next election.

The secular neocons are savaging her.

Shrub has a payback for the necons-who trashed him on a "botched" Iraq policy and war.

He is now giving payback. Harriett appeals to the religious base and he is playing to them for support.

"Subtlety". Rove's a drama queen, like his boss. Substitutes theatrics for substance and right now they've moved into burlesque--their hineys are shimmering in the sunlight.
