Thought I would don the haz-mat suit and check out what Freepi are saying about Plamegate. What did I find? Denial, delusion, & de-crazy! Certainly, there is plenty of supposition and guess work concerning this case, but what is happening over there is just plain bizarre. In an effort to avoid reality, some interesting scenarios are being devised - the most interesting of which is that this is all Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame's fault.
So, here are some highlights of how the story is playing over in crazy-town:
First, this excerpt pretty much confirms that it was the lovely Miss Valerie leaking to The Guardian, who cited their source as "a CIA employee".
Secondly, Wilson is working to "expand his brief" -- even before the NYT op-ed was published. By forcefully claiming he had gone to Niger "on behalf of the government--not of the CIA but of the government", Wilson is seemingly asserting that he was "on a mission from Cheney". This is not a misunderstanding, it is willful misinformation.
Justice would be best served by sending Joe & Val up the river for a spell...
1) Plume wasn't an undercover agent!
2) If she was she was not overseas in 6 years, so no law was broken at all.
3) She was already outed in Who's who magazine 2 years earlier
4) If anyone should be going to jail its Plume for nominating her idiot husband to go overseas when he had zero expertise and was a DNC hack!
I can't see that there was ever a crime, no chance of a real conspiracy, and detailed documentation on the part of the White House. I don't see a perjury charge. Rove, Libby and everyone else gave their sources leave to discuss them. Where am I wrong? Maybe something frivolous on the part of the Prosecuter?
What galls me the most, is that the root of this is a bald faced liar in Joe Wilson.
While some believe there was no crime, others believe everyone committed a crime...including Will Pitt!
Plame shared classified information about her status with Wilson (a crime), who shared it with McGovern (a crime), who just shared it with Pitt (a crime).
Now, this Freep accepts the crime & tries to gain knowledge from Nixon and strength from Delay:
That Ronnie Earle wannabe may indict Rove, but he'll never lay a hand on him. Karl will leave Fitzgerald with a handful of air. Nixon's downfall was that people jumped ship and tried to cut their own deals. Bush's guys are tougher and will stick with each other. Just remember, keep on fighting and don't abandon whoever gets indicted. Look to Tom Delay as an example of how to fight this. The GOP will Sink or swim together. Look to Tom
And finally, we have this wonderful summation of the in-fighting:
Bill Kristol a "raving lunatic"?
Tell me, Howlin, do you think Brit Hume will have Bill Kristol on his show in the future or will he decide to have "Howlin" or "RobFromGa" on his show?
What about Ann Coulter? Has "Howlin" become the new conservative darling of the conservative talk shows now that Ann Coulter has criticized Bush's pick of Miers?
When is "RobFrom Ga" going to appear on Hannity and on Brit Hume's show?
Bill Kristol a "raving lunatic"?
Let's state that again--Bill Kristol a "raving lunatic"???
And you say I am making a "personal attack" because I call that a stupid, childish remark? Free Republic received a lot of national attention after the Dan RATher Guard story. So now, a lot of lurkers are peaking in to FR to see what is being posted by "conservatives". What do they see . . .
George Will is a "raving lunatic" because he criticized Bush?
Ann Coulter is a "raving lunatic" because she criticized Bush?
Charles Krauthammer is a "raving lunatic" because he criticized Bush?
Michelle Malkin, Bill Kristol, Pat Buchannon, many others, all "raving lunatics" because they criticized Bush?
No, Howlin, it is people like you and "RobFrom GA" who are the laughing stock of conservatives who follow Free Republic. Calling prominent conservatives "raving lunatics" because they criticize Bush hurts Free Republic. You are hurting our cause, not helping it.
Bill Kristol, like all the other prominent commentators mentioned, is correct. Bush has gravely harmed the conservative movement.
