He rolled up his sleeves for the camera, then he dug in to the jambalaya! Wonder how much this trip is costing us?

Bush Showcases Progress in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - President Bush got a taste of some of New Orleans' finest attractions Monday in an effort to showcase progress in a hurricane-battered city. The president dined at a French Quarter restaurant before spending the night in a famed luxury hotel.

The president's effort to show New Orleans is making progress came even as much of the city remains in ruins.

The historic French Quarter was mostly spared by the storm and is showing increasing signs of normalcy with lights back on and establishments re-opened.

Still, many of New Orleans' stores and businesses remain closed, relatively few people are on the streets and many areas remain uninhabitable, even if mostly dry.

While DU'ers admonished each other to take it easy on Poor Laura. She's just the Enabler! She's not Responsible for Him!

4. "we thought we had been abandoned in hell"-- three different evacuees said
this to a friend of mine who works for one of the relief agencies in town.

not that the smirking bastard, or any of his cronies or sheeples actually care. I wanted to cry when I heard those people.

9. Now that's just mean. You know that Laura probably carried them on her
lap the whole way, trying ever-so-hard not to drop them or get any of the water on her new tweed.

And this is the thanks she gets.

Man.

13. Remember when they turned the lights off in NOLA?
They lit up a neighborhood for the big Bush Haunted House speech - and then as soon as it was over, they shut off the lights. People who hadn't had power for a week were all happy, then they took it away as soon as George was done using them for his photo-op.

14. When the "mean" get meaner
Does anyone think all the proud smiles might just be because there are fewer people on medicare, wellfare, food stamps, and social security? Those items alone will quickly cover any state and government costs for this "natural catastrophy", even if a few live could have possibly been saved!

16. Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices for the good of others.
If more of those poor people would cut back on some of their extravagant expenses, the whole thing could have been paid for, easy!

17. Something weird about his body language with Mayor Nagin.
Edited on Mon Oct-10-05 11:58 PM by Beausoir
I swear, he's like an undersized rat terrier, constantly trying to posture himself up into a formidable foe.

What a retarded monkey. I hope they served him lots of pretzels.

19. I was just thinking that there's something weird about Nagin's expression.
Kind of like he's just realized that the devil owns his soul and he's debating whether gas or pills will null the contract.

20. How on earth ...
could a Black reverend enjoy himself so much in the presence of that asshole. I'm a White Australian and I still could not swallow a bite of food in that idiot's company after the way he treated the people of New Orleans.

Seeing that makes me sick and angry.
