Record Tropical Season keeps giving storms
We are now on Tropical Storm Vince, and at the same time watching Tropical Depression 22 just South East of Bermuda.

Tropical Depression 22 is http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at2+shtml/024022.shtml?5day?large

Tropical Storm Vince is located http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at3+shtml/150452.shtml?5day?large

We have only had one other season make it to the letter "T" and that was Tanya in 1995. We have never before had to break out the "V" storm name. Not according to my Hurricane Tracking Program anyway.

Does anyone still doubt Global Warming, or do we still need to wait and see? Perhaps we have to wait until Halliburtons headquarters is wiped out before we decide that Global Warming is a real threat?

1. What The Hell Is Up With Vince
it is heading for Portugal!
I thought Atlantic storms moved west, at least until they got closer to Bermuda.

Has a tropical system ever hit Europe?

2. Vince is an anomaly
Showing characteristics of a sub-tropical or tropical storm, but its impact will be minimal because the sea-surface temperatures to the north will not allow it to sustain the tropical storm winds that accompany these types of cyclones. Here is a current view of the SSTs:

3. I don't know if a True Tropical Storm has, but I found this

Other storm systems
An extratropical cyclone is a storm that derives energy from horizontal temperature differences, which are typical in higher latitudes. A tropical cyclone can become extratropical as it moves toward higher latitudes if its energy source changes from heat released by condensation to differences in temperature between air masses. From space, extratropical storms have a characteristic "comma-shaped" cloud pattern. Extratropical cyclones can also be dangerous because their low-pressure centers cause powerful winds.

In the United Kingdom and Europe, some severe northeast Atlantic cyclonic depressions are referred to as "hurricanes," even though they rarely originate in the tropics. These European windstorms can generate hurricane-force windspeeds but are not given individual names. However, two powerful extratropical cyclones that ravaged France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in December 1999, "Lothar" and "Martin", were named due to their unexpected power (equivalent to a category 1 or 2 hurricane). In British Shipping Forecasts, winds of force 12 on the Beaufort scale are described as "hurricane force."

There is also a polar counterpart to the tropical cyclone, called a polar low.

4. It's actually a cold core low
That circulates counterclockwise (cyclonically) and uses the coupled atmospheric processes of convergence, divergence and positive vorticity (spin). It's very common to find these storms during the winter and they are known as mid-latitude cyclones.
