The real mystery: Who is Leak Throat in "All the pResidents Men"?
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:23 PM by TruthIsAll
Who is this guy? Is he meeting WP reporters in a DC garage? Is he telling them that they are "missing the overall"? That their lives are in danger? That this was a Rove operation from the start? That they should "follow the money". And that these WH pukes are really not a smart bunch. And this is not just a Scooter Libby dirty trick.

All the pResidents men.

1. As many times as I've seen that film...
I get the willies during the scenes when they meet in the garage and when Woodward leaves and walks down that noire D.C. street. Chilling.

2. my money is on Pat Buchanan
That's what some journalism students deduced, last year I think. And it made a lot of sense.

3. Deep Throat,
not Leak Throat.

Probably no one will ever know for sure, but apparently the first draft of the book did not have a Deep Throat character. The editor thought there needed to be something more interesting in the book.

There are some real problems with how DT supposedly contacted the reporters. Whoever it was who got the notices in the Washington Post lived in a high rise apartment building. All the Posts were delivered to the front desk, and they were then dropped off in front of the various apartments. So there was no way for the correct one to be certain to be placed in front of the specific apartment.

Also, whoever was supposedly putting a plant out on his balcony, had a balcony which faced an interior courtyard. No way for someone not already in the building to see.

All that said, it seems clear to me that they were getting some informaiton from inside the administration. It's just not very likely it happened the way ascribed to Deep Throat.
