Congressman Conyers continues To BE Presidential
Now, we just need to elect him into the Oval Office in 2008, via ensuring he is Speaker of the House for the 110th US Congress.

I hope the following is sufficiently explicit:

I am specifically requesting that we all urge Congressman Conyers to lead an effort to unify all Democratic candidates for 2006 positions in the Senate and the House to have as a common goal the resignation, and if not that, then impeachment (House) and conviction (Senate) of Bush and Cheney after the Democrats regain control of both chambers in Jan 2007.

And, as a result of the international name recognition he would thereby achieve, I am urging that Congressman Conyers run for President in 2008, and they we all work every day from now until the polls close in November 2008 to make that happen.

And, my message to Senator Kerry, Senator Clinton, Senator Biden, Senator Kennedy, Senator Byrd, and every other Democratic member of the Senate and the House, is for them to create a forum in which they all join together, as the brave Democratic members of the House of Representatives did today, and announce their unswerving dedication to returning America to the rule of law, the the rule of reason.

My request, and I hope the resounding request of all members of DU and other ethical and committed Americans, is that they will jointly condemn Bush and his neoconster regime for the un-Constitutional and otherwise totally illegal war of aggression on Iraq, the illegal forceful occupation of Iraq, the torture and vast abuses to the citizens of Iraq, the vast destruction of the infrastructure of Iraq, and the radioactive contamination of land and water in Iraq.

And, that they will not rest until they bring him and Cheney before a court of law and hold them and their neoconster associates accountable for what they have done to the noble members of the US Armed Forces -- to those they have killed and disabled, to those they have abused and demoralized, and to all their families.

We The People ... MUST bring law and order to our Republic.

We The People ... MUST demonstrate to humanity that we will not tolerate murderous tyrants and any abuse of the dignity of any person.

Peace.

1. He is on my short list already...
We need strong leadership to get the reThugs out of power and try to salvage America. We need a chorus to sing out the same notes at the same time.

Hello chorus, where are you guys????

2. 2006. Let's see if he can lead to victory in 2006 first. 2006 before 2008.

3. One only hopes.
There are so many variables. Conyers has not expressed any desire to run. I'm not sure he would do it. One thing's for sure. If the Dems take back the House in 2006, we'll need him on Judiciary for those articles of impeachment. Both Rangel and Conyers were on Judiciary during Watergate. We'll need their experience in 2007 to hold these asshats accountable, for once and for all.

Then, we can see if Conyers would like to run. I'd support him in a heartbeat. He's from my hometown, the most liberal city in the nation, Detroit, MI.

4. What isn't Conyers doing?
Oh, right, he's not working on a cure for the common cold. Well tell him to get buy, he's right about everything else.

6. Sometimes I try to envision how different our country would be....
... if John Conyers was President instead of that paranoid, sociopathic imbecile we have now. It only makes me more pissed at anyone who voted for the Bushreich and GOP brownshirts like DeLay, Santorum, Frist, Hastert et al.

Why do Republicans hate America?

9. The links
Will someone please explain to me why we consistantly let the Conyers posts fall into the archives without giving them the due consideration they deserve, while at the same time fawn all over the "emotional" and "topic du jour" posts.

PLEASE click the links in the intial post and give them a read/comment.

Though I do wonder if he is actually interested in the job. Gods know most of us would love to have him.

14. I assure you that I am emailing him all these threads and hope ...
... he will very much want the position. He has earned it as you well know.

It's for us to convince him that we are prepared to go the distance to assist him not just now but once he is in the Oval Office (and I mean by doing stuff for him way beyond just posting at a blog, as you know).

Peace.
