I thought I would draw your attention a letter I sent with my colleagues Jane Harman and Bennie Thompson to White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card. We are seeking a classified briefing on the number of al Qaeda threats thwarted by the Bush Administration, the details of which were not disclosed in the President's speech last night. The text of the letter is below.

Dear Mr. Card:

In yesterday's speech, President Bush stated that the U.S. and our partners have disrupted at least ten serious al Qaeda terrorist plots since September 11th, including three al Qaeda plans to attack inside the United States.

We receive regular classified briefings on terrorist threats but the number ten came as news to us. We want assurances that the details of these ten cases will be briefed to the relevant committees of Congress.

Please contact us immediately so that we may arrange such a briefing.

Sincerely,

John Conyers, Jr.
Jane Harman
Bennie Thompson

16. Every word uttered by this Administration should be disassembled
to assure every bluff, every misstatement, every duplicitous word is fully exposed/refuted.

17. Conyers rocks! I'd love to see Conyers for Prez/Boxer VP in 2008
I want people I can trust to get the job done. Haven't heard much from Boxer though since Arnold got elected.

6. Recommend -- and now your giving us pictures!
Conyers writes a great letter. So does Waxman. However, Waxman likes to include an entire record. Conyers is a minimalist with a zing. Nice stuff. In addition to doing his job, showing his love for country, he is truly enjoying this. It shows.

I want to see the day, soon, where Dana Milbank has to eat crow for hi rudeness and insensitivity during the hearings.

If Card can brief *, he can brief legitimately elected Representatives.

7. Once again, thank you Mr. Conyers.
And I must say, they do keep setting themselves up as of late what with all the public lies they tell trying to make themselves look better.

8. Outstanding! Force them to back-up their statements!
OT: I have no doubt that it is/was the leadership of Rep. Conyers that lead to the Dems standing UNITED today in the House against the fascist's tactics. Conyers has been a beacon of light to show the Democratic Party the way to stand against the corruption and anti-Americanism of the current republican party.

Okay, this is really off topic. Look at bush*s right hand. Does it appear discolored to anyone, or is it just the camera?

11. This was the first time that I have ever seen the photo enlarged
That is what drew my attention. Do you have access to a print? This has spiked my curiosity, I even began a thread to see what others thought. It could just be distortion, but it looks awfully purple and you are correct, it looks as though he is guarding it.

It seems like it wouldn't take much to dispel this perception with a hard copy of the photo. BOTOH, it could lead to more questions if hard copies of the photos support the theory that his hand is in fact discolored/purple.

13. *'s reaction....

September 11, 2001. Sarasota, Florida. President Bush's reaction caught on camera.
Chief of Staff Andrew Card just told the President that a *second* airliner just hit the other World Trade Tower. And you know what that means...

18. That's swell, but a waste of time. The WH will ignore this - And How!
Just like their immediate dismissal of the half million+ signatures concerning DSM. There is no reason for them to cooperate.
