Voting rolls on Internet (CT)
SOUTHINGTON -- As of Tuesday, Southington’s 25,000 registered voters could begin looking into their personal voting records online with a new feature added to the town’s registrars of voters’ Web site.

A voter can now access that information by visiting the new Web site -- http://registrars. southington.org/voterlist/voters.php -- and entering his or her name and date of birth.

With this information, a voter can make sure his or her mailing address is correct as well as check his or her party affiliation and telephone number. The online record shows past elections, including special referendums, in which the voter has participated, going back to the 1994 midterm elections. It does not show how the individual voted.

Sherman said local political candidates will be given special passwords during the campaign season to access voter lists by party affiliation. The Republicans, Democrats and third-party candidates would have access to the lists, Sherman said.

1. Security?
That seems to open up some significant security issue to me.

2. Without being the brightest light on the porch....
I think this information is public record...I could be wrong.....If not, then it just simplifies access to the voters. I have no problem with it a first glance but some smarter DU'ers may show me other potiential problems....
