No longer "Survival of the fittest" - it's now "Survival of the RICHEST"
I don't know about anyone else here, but more and more these days,
it seems it truly is a matter of "Money talks and bullshit walks."

Maybe I'm in a blue funk, but it just seems to me that I have
been delusional all my life... believing in Democratic principles when
all along it's just about money and more money and power.

More and more I feel it is all about the bottom line and nothing more...
the ALMIGHTY dollar.

I guess it's true: "money is the root of all evil"

Everywhere I look, GREED, GREED, and MORE GREED.

Were things actually any different 50 years ago? Is it just me or
do people seem more self-centered than ever before?

End of rant. Thank you.

2. It's always been
about money and power. Fifty years ago, it was just a little less obvious.

3. I'll rant with you
because I have just looked at my online bank account where three different businesses have taken money out with my credit card number for additional purchases I did not authorize.

THAT and my daughter and son in law constantly getting 30 bucks in over limit charges and the same amount in late charges, and then paying interest on THAT. Legal. But wrong.

5. We are about to see the beginning of the Neo-Gilded Age
and it will be followed by socialism ...

We are going to repeat history all over again...mark my words.

7. "money is the root of all evil" - it says so in the BIBLE.
Even the Bible is far more tolerant of debtors than what these corporate crooks have done.

11. Actually it's the LOVE of money that's the root of all evil
And we have too many LOVERS of money in office.

Money in the hands of good people is powerful. I don't have to say too much is in the hands of the wrong people right now.

9. Welcome to reality!
This is a question I've asked myself also. I remember growing up in the early '60s and thinking of our house as a home, not an investment. When did that change, or was it just me growing up?
In a way, I think it was always about money. If you were a Vanderbilt or Rockefeller, you got things easier than if you were a Joe Six-Pack. It was never as blatant as it is now. Just as the Repugs are now saying things out loud they only used to think, so it is with money/power today being so blatantly equalled with privelege, when before it was more implied.
We can only be true to ourselves, as it is us that looks back from the mirror each morning.
Good luck to you John, as I need a fair amount of it myself!

PS... The quote is, "The love of money is the root of all evil", but in my book it's basically the same thing as what you said....

14. and they will still die, and
when people want to steal their 'things' there won't be any more of us little people to protect them- or clean up after them, or amuse them, or be used by them, or pay their bills, because they need us to do what they don't 'like' doing- the service jobs, the dirty shit, the grunt work, they dying in wars....

they need us more than they realize- and i'm more afraid of living a life of suffering and oppression, than i am of death- Question is, are they?

17. Rich humans do have Darwinian fitness
Its been shown in many anthropological studies.

In most societies men are older than women...and consequently have more wealth than men the same age or younger than their brides.

Where polygyny exists, only wealthy men tend to have more than one wife and they consequently have more children than average or poor men.
