Should be fined heavily.

I think that everytime there is a vote and my elected representative is not there they should be fined for it.

what the hell else are we electing them for other than to frickin vote on things!?!?!?!?

2. Purposely missed a vote that screwed the people and helped the oil
industry..which ended up helping the oil industry. Can't be blamed for what you miss...unless they're held accountable. Remember this and pass it around to people in your area.

4. my congressman is going to hate me after a while. :)
just called up and suggested that he work on a bill that would fine "heavily" any representative who did not show up to vote.

5. Gotta admit, it's a pretty good idea.
The only catch is that sometimes I kinda wish that they wouldn't be there, because sometimes they just wind up fucking up more than they fix! :D

Really, though, we are paying them. They work for 9 months (-ish) out of the year with a fat salary and more perks than anyone could imagine. It doesn't seem too unreasonable to expect them to show up for work. Crazy idea, I know....

6. Some were there and didn't vote. At least one Republican was
persuaded not to vote in lieu of voting with Democrats against the bill.

9. It was Reps 210 Dems 213 against the boondoggle for the oil barons,
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 06:28 PM by Idealist Hippie
but instead of closing the vote after five minutes as usual, the chair kept it open (over repeated objections from Dems on the floor) for nearly an hour while arms were twisted -- three people were coerced into changing their votes, (one Repub abstained from voting) so the boondoggle for the oil companies passed 212-210.

If this isn't right, somebody correct me.....(I know you will!)

10. That's about it.
The bill passed the House by a vote of 212-210. No Democrats voted for the legislation.

"The Republican leadership today demonstrated a blatant abuse of power in subverting House rules and a blatant disregard for the needs of the American people by passing this sham energy bill," Sanders said.

"At a time when consumers are worrying about whether or not they can afford to heat their homes this winter or fill up their gas tank, it is unconscionable that the Republican leadership put forth yet another energy bill that does nothing to lower prices for consumers or increase conservation," Sanders said.

They have plenty of time to vacation, they shouldn't be missing votes.
