GO CHARLIE MELANCON! (D-Louisiana)
Railing against the shameful behavior he just witnessed. His career there will be short, but at least he'll leave with a clean conscience.

4. Telling Louisiana to "take the money and run...don't pay it back!"
Brilliant.

6. Why should Louisianans be and different than Iraqis?
Charley kicked some serious republican ass in the last election. It was brutal and a close race but he counterpunched with the gop slime all the way to election day.

Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 02:18 PM by CottonBear
I hope he will be relected. We need people who are willing to stand up and fight for what is right.

Hi BOSSHOG! :hi: How's it going? I hope the clean-up is going OK.

8. Hello
Got the last of the stumps removed, now we just gotta rake and rake and rake. Its low on my list right now. I want to plant some mums but my lazy meter is pegged out. The yard is getting a little better every day. We got new flooring down to replace carpet in two bedrooms and the hall. The wife wanted wood floors, so that's what we got. For years we have been talking about getting rid of things, since Katrina we have been getting rid things. Went to Slidell last Saturday morning. So very creepy. We had to do some banking business but we just got in and out. Traffic is horrible. Our branch, near the lake has been closed since the Hurricane. Our safe deposit box is in an undisclosed location in Harrahan being decontaminated. Hopefully we'll have access to it soon. The EPA is inspecting the branch to determine whether it can be reopened. To paraphrase an old Navy Slogan, Its not just a Hurricane, its an adventure.

Charlie Melancon is a good man. Not my rep, but a good man. Yes, the more dems the better. Take care!

12. There's nothing like a hurricane to inspire a clean sweep of the abode!
The wood floors sound nice. I hate carpeting. Wood is much better.

That is not good news about Slidell. I had not even thought about safe deposit boxes. Damn. They must have gotten moldy. Yuck.

My sister-in-law and her son moved back home to Lacombe. They still have a tarp on the roof but they have electricity and the septic tank was replaced (it was ripped out of the ground by the roots of the giant oak tree that fell on the house. Mr. CB's cousin and her boyfriend are now living in an RV in my sister-in-laws front yard. Unfortunately, her house in Grande Isle was flooded and severely damaged. :( They sound sort of dazed and depressed when I talk to them. They said you can't imagine the devastation unless you are there. Sigh. I hope to see them at Thanksgiving or Christmas if they are ready for house guests.

Take it easy. It sounds like you could use a break.

CB

10. You're a lucky woman! You can be proud of your Congressman.
I wish I could say the same about mine. He's a Democrat and a personal friend who has just been redistricted out of his county by the GA Republicans. He voted for the Schiavo law. I think he's desperate and has been put in a bad spot. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He was the most liberal commissioner in our county prior to being elected to Congress.

11. I am so thankful that Charlie is our rep.
The alternative was just too horrible to imagine.....Little Billy Tauzin, or Craig Romero. BARF!!!!! Charlie's local office is right down the street from me so I'm over there a lot letting him and his staff know what a great job he's doing. He's been in town quite a bit since the hurricanes hit, and I've seen him come back from pulling people out of their homes that have been flooded, helping the cattlemen round up horses and cows from the floodwaters, helping the fisherman get their boats off of the top of people's houses, he's been doing it all. He is such a great man.

13. For goodness sakes ask him for us.
Why do people like him do such things? I am sure he is a hardworking person. It would be nice to hear in his own words exactly what kind of rock and hard place he is living between. Makes it more human; therefore more understandable, I think.

14. I tuned in right before he stood up to the podium, I'm so glad I caught it.
He is an awesome man who stands up for what he truly believes in. We should all have leaders like this. I watch alot of C-SPAN, and I can't remember seeing a politician with that much passion in awhile.

Did this happen in the House of Representatives? Any chance that C-Span will re-air it?
