Had a conversation with Merh last night that really left me disturbed
Talking about all the displaced people. Many of them are in what amounts to no more than pup tents.
A cold front blew through Northeast Texas Wednesday night and we saw temps fall. Right now it is 54 and cloudy--and the Gulf Coast will be seeing this if they haven't already.
With the nights dipping in the 40's this week...with rainy weather as well, I am really bothered by the children who are having to live in these tents with the cool weather upon us.:(
Really really bothered.

1. Oh, don't worry. All those churches that have been taking government
money will take them in.

3. Not
unless they convert, I fear this won't happen. A lot of so-called churches are more interested in making a lot of money than in helping people.

Concerned about the churches and the Red Cross being reimbursed by FEMA.
What about the Red Cross shelters that are in the churches?
Are they double dipping?:(
Somehow I bet they are.

2. I don't blame you
and I believe that the federal government has decided to slash funding to help them. Maybe they need to caravan to Crawford and use Shrub's ranch for shelter. Or go visit DeLay-after all, staying at his house will be a lot more "fun".

You know, that is a GOOD IDEA--a Crawford HOOVERVILLE
It'll ruin his Turkey Day, to have poor folk living in the ditch outside his house....

8. That's awful
I am sorry to hear about it. I am glad Merh got her "FEMA mansion" which is certainly better than a tent, although I am sure leaves much to be desired. But in that kind of tragedy I guess it is all relative.

Are these tents under FEMA control? If so, I am afraid there is probably nothing they will let us do to help, by way of aid organizations. They haven't seemed to cooperate much. Otherwise, do ou know of anything we can do to help?

11. well being inspired by BOSSHOG
do what YOU can do.
I do know someone who works for FEMA, so I will try to hook up those in need with that person.
The tents really bother me though.:(
We are gonna see some really sick little ones this winter until they get 4 walls around them.

9. i was building homeless shelters under Reagan and pulling children out of
tents in the snow in Washington in the winter.. at 10*, families living in wet snow 3 feet deep. the father was an X-SEAL, so he didn't have any ID or record of being in the Navy, since all he did was CIA work..he had lost his leg, and couldn't get any VA help.

things were much worse under BU$H/Reagan.. I actually did the Research that he used to dump all the mental patients out on the street with in the 70's.

I was really pissed they manipulated the project to cause so much suffering.

Is there Somewhere I could box them up and send them to? Somewhere I would know for sure that they would be used?

outside the White House to highlight the reality of this awful situation?

And/or FEMAvilles outside State Gov't buildings?
