Just reported on CNBC- Suspicious package in Philly, man being
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 09:31 AM by converted_democrat
questioned. In the market east station? (I don't know area) No link yet, just said it on CNBC.

Went looking and found this, not a link to CNBC, but it is worth a read. Odd that one of the authors has the last name Bush. Says station is back open now, but you have to read the article. Man in camo had the package, but it turned out to be nothing. A blow torch. -

Another link- Stating that the station is reopened.

This seems eerily similar, only the war is not with another country. :hide:

8. Gosh, what a coincidence.
Missing blonde found, terra in the subways, more terra in philly. Good thing there isn't anything boring happening like, oh, say INDICTMENTS OF THE WHOLE WHITE HOUSE that might distract from these important stories.

3. And so it resumes
After a long lull of terror alerts after the election (ain't that a coincidence?) once again terror alerts and supposed threats start to pop up right and left just as Rove is about to be indicted. (ain't that another coincidence?)

4. What a great day to send my kid on vacation for the first time
and he's going through NYC to get off Long Island. Ughh. Figures. I'm not stopping him though, he lost out on a few trips because of 9/11. I refuse to let him lose out on everything, he doesn't deserve this, along with everyone else.

I hope there are investigations about these alerts. If these are unfounded, they should be charged with terrorism to the American people. IMO.

11. Good point.
That these "alerts" are forms of terrorism themselves.

The irony never occurred to me.

15. Keith Olbermann was saying this very thing last night on Countdown
he was deliciously skeptical about the latest round of terra in NYC. It's nice to see a journalist willing to say :wtf: when a story smells fishy.

12. Great. The 8th graders here went on a field trip to Philly today.
On the brighter side, I made a large group of people sing the word "smile" 39,000 times this morning. (Collectively. About 130 times per person.)

22. I had to get off of the R6 at North Broad
and take the subway into City Hall since they weren't letting the regional lines go into Suburban Station. That was loads of fun, packing the occupants of the R5 and R6 (and possibly others) into the subway along with the regular subway riders. Talk about sardines in a can!
Apparently a man was acting suspiciously and dogs smelled something in his backpack. It turned out to be the nozzle from a propane tank.

26. I think the situation has been pretty much resolved now,
but you may still have a problem. A friend was planning to come into the city today and I was going to have lunch with him. He called about 11:15 and said that the R5 hadn't showed up on time (at whatever suburban station he was at) and that he would have to cancel and reschedule. Apparently, even though the situation was resolved, the train schedules may be screwed up for the rest of the day (that's just my uneducated guess). You should check with Septa to find out about your particular situation, but it's obviously too late at this point for you to get to Market East by noon.
