Anyone else worried about this. Robert McCallum, Skull and Bones
classman of Jr., was Assistant AG under Ashcroft, and now is being put in as Fitzgerald's boss. This doesn't sound good, seems like a set-up to interfere with Fitz's investigation. This is why I hope Fitz can act quickly while this grand jury is still in session, I don't trust that BFEE won't try something, anything to derail this investigation before it yields indictments.

Forget where I read or heard of this appointment, otherwise I'd have added a link. Sorry.

1. Fitzgerald is independent in this one
To the extent of the current grand jury. As for Skull & Bones, can we please put this one to a rest. It's a friggin fraternity. To the extent that fraternities take care of their own this is relevant. To anything else it's bunk and silly. We already know that Bush's administration is rife with croneyism (as does the rest of the country now thankfully). We don't have to bring this S&B crap up again. It's counterproductive. We always talk about how Republicans frame an issue. The frame here isn't S&B because that makes us look like paranoid conspiracy whackjobs. The frame is croneyism.

5. Sorry I mentioned S & B. I always hate it that people bring that up in
reference to Senator Kerry. I just meant that McCallum was in Bush's class and for emphasis on cronyism, mentioned the S& B. I don't really put that much credence in that aspect of the connection.

2. I remember hearing about this...
Do you know if McCallum is now Fitz's boss, or will that happen in the near future?

Hell yes, this is troubling.

It's just a bit too coincidental that the old boss decides to leave and is replaced with a Bush CRONY.

It's totally consistent with their evil shenanigans.

It's worth discussing--what power this boss would have. Could he reassign the case? Tell Fitz to call off the investigation?

We all know that these evil thugs will not "go quietly into that good night." This situation is looking dire for the administration, so I'm sure they have some dirty tricks up their sleeve. McCallum could be a part of that.

Also...doesn't Fitz's term as a prosecutor end in October? Maybe I'm mistaken about that, but that was my understanding. Does he get to finish out his cases--or do they get re-assigned at the end of Oct?

It's all very interesting.

If the Bush cabal isn't held accountable on this--I really feel that all hope is lost. Sorry to be such a naysayer, but if they can finesse their way out of this one--then they are untouchable.

3. No, this is not true- David Margolis was appointed to oversee Fitzgerald
The rumor about McCallum turned out to be false. This article explains the appointment instead of David Margolis by outgoing James Comey:
