on power outages and such....

as some of you may know hubby and i are in st. lucia for 16 months while he does his medical program. in some ways i think this has been great training for what might (probably) be coming to the u.s. soon, although not in a tropical paradise setting!

we lost power last night - huge storm - can get scary on a tiny island out in the middle of the ocean. but back to the point: we have chosen to forego a car so we're getting everywhere on foot or by bike.

when i woke up this morning got to thinking of all back in the states and this upcoming winter. are you all prepared in case the worst happens? do you have backup power source? can you get what you need on foot / by bike / motorscooter? not even any internet access, which for us was pretty much the worst thing.

please get what you need now - generators, batteries, water, etc. not being alarmist - just passing on my thoughts this morning. we've all been learning over the past five years we have no one to lean on but ourselves.
