And that it was NYPD and NY FBI who made the call. The threat was specific as to date. They withheld the information as undercover worked on it, but had to go public as threat level was elevated.

And you know I would be the first to point at the WH. But since DHS is saying the threat is not credible, while NYPD is saying it's serious, I choose to believe NYPD, which has intel units in all major cities. I'm thinking this one is for real.

authority? (The FBI has this authority but a city police department?)

Now use the caution needed, but quite honestly there are several things to say about terrarims, especially attacking soft targets

1.- If you have a commited group, sooner or later they will succeed.

2.- usually it happens when you least epect it, not when you have security forces on full alert

3.- Security forces never reveal an upcoming threat, they usually speak of the ones they took care off... and will NEVER go into full detail.

Now if you think it is seriious by all means take precautions, but you should keep your eyes open for things out of place at all times, not just when they blow the whistle.

15. well obviously we are all on alert all the time here

but I smell something different about this - it's because DHS is pooh-poohing it. And my cop friend says it's for real. Security forces are always on full alert here, but yes, you're right, it seems doubtful they would do it now after all the announcements etc.

A journalist on another thread posted that NY has its own intel, so I asked the cop friend and he says yes. NYPD all around the globe.
