go to TIME.com and look at the article, "A Well-Paid Working Mom." I'm working on a bum computer, and can't post the link, or even an excerpt. She was apparently paid half a million for a speech between her appointment by Bush as goodwill ambassador to Muslim lands, and her assuming that post, which has "raised some eyebrows." Before that, she was well-paid for speaking engagements (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Is this why she had to "spend time with her family" for a while -- to build up a nest egg before she, and Bush, are history?

Both were TV news queens in Texas. Both in the Dallas market, if I am not mistaken (correct me if I am wrong). Karen Hughes was a member of my church, the 1st Pres. of Dallas, and the RW preacher (Lamar Alexander's B.I.L.), Bill Carl, loved to praise the Bushies indirectly. Barf-o-matic!
