ANDREW CARD GIVEN A TWELVE-HOUR HEAD START ON THE INVESTIGATION: On September 29, 2003, the Department of Justice informed then-White House counsel Alberto Gonzales that it was launching a criminal investigation into the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity. Gonzales was instructed to notify the White House staff to preserve all documents related to the case. By his own admission, Gonzales didn’t comply with the request immediately; he went to Chief of Staff Andrew Card and told him that the White House staff would be told to preserve all documents related to the leak the following morning. As a result, Card had a 12-hour window to tip off White House staff about the request — an amount of time that “would give people time to shred documents and do any number of things.”

DAN BARTLETT WAS ON AIR FORCE ONE: Bartlett was one of several senior administration officials on a July 2003 flight to Africa. During the trip, Bartlett gave a background briefing in which he urged reporters to look into the CIA’s sole in sending Joe Wilson to Niger. The briefing has not drawn “substantial interest” the prosecutor’s office recently. One source for a New York Times article on the subject said Prosecutor Fitzgerald knew about the briefing but was not pursuing it. A different source for the same article said the Mr. Bartlett did not see the State Department memo that was otherwise witnessed on the plane.

COLIN POWELL WAS ON AIR FORCE ONE: Then-Secretary of State Colin Powell was on Air Force One accompanying President Bush on the July 2003 trip to Africa. A “senior State Department official confirmed that, while on the trip, Powell had a department intelligence report on whether Iraq had sought uranium from Niger.” The State Department memo in question — a “key piece of evidence in the CIA leak investigation” — stated that “Wilson’s wife had attended a meeting at the CIA where the decision was made to send Wilson to Niger.” The memorandum “contained information about CIA officer Valerie Plame in a paragraph marked ‘(S)’ for secret, a clear indication that any Bush administration official who read it should have been aware the information was classified…” There are also indications that Fitzgerald subpoenaed phone records from Air Force One — where the memo was first seen by many administration officials — to “determine whether presidential aides used the aircraft’s phones to leak the name of a CIA employee to reporters.”

There’s another tsunami forecast for this fall, but there won’t be any water involved. This disturbance is of a judicial nature and what cascades will not be waves. ‘Tis the season to be indicted, with the neocon/Israeli spy cabal first to trial, followed shortly thereafter by that of Tom DeLay and his pals. Next up are the flurry of indictments expected to be handed down from Patrick Fitzgerald’s peek into the Plame case, which has enough links to other crimes to make Oscar Mayer feel inadequate. At minimum, there’ll be at least one count each on the heads of Karl ‘the fat eunuch’ Rove and Cheney’s henchman Scooter Libby.



Let us contemplate for a moment that the top aids of Bush and Cheney and the most brutal House Majority Leader to come along in a while could soon be in jail. Many believe it’s unlikely, but we’ll get to that later, somewhere near the end of the day. Rove, of course, would be voted most popular newbie since he’s got plenty of practice. Scooter, on the other hand, would get that frumpy look on his little face wiped right off it. As for Tom, we'd get to find out how bad his ass really is. All these joys might accrue when Bush comes to shove.



When you realize this crowd has been in cahoots for most of their adult lives, though ‘adult’ may be problematic for some, their deep ties suggest Grand Juries will be a cottage industry. So let us examine the whole cast for indictments, pending or probable, and what we have is a much longer article than even I had expected. We begin with Larry Franklin, and American Israeli Political Action committee head Steve Rosen and his assistant Keith Weissman, who will face trial soon for, in effect, espionage. The twist in that plot is that more important than secrets Franklin brought out of the Pentagon, which were substantial, is what he took back in after meeting with Rosen. Rosen is a big time gamer ‘ thrives on power for its own sake ‘ and he’s a single issue lobbyist: taking out Iran.



So like Chabali fed the phony intelligence into the systems via the infamous Office of Special Plans, Rosen got the stuff in with his boy Franklin. We are already enjoying the fruits of this little tag team being under indictment in that they aren’t able to push their obsession in the corridors of power while they are busy preparing for trial. Additional persons of interest in this case include Harold Rhode, David Wurmsur, Michael Maloof, Col. William Brunner and the former Israeli Embassy’s chief political officer, Naor Gilon. The latter is conveniently back in Israel and will not be seen again in this country because Israel never extradites anyone but Arabs.



Also under indictment is Jack Abramoff and his partner Adam Kidan, and their man at ARMPAC Warren RoBold. This ménage-à-trois have many legal swords hanging over their necks. This probably will include conspiracy in the killing of former business associate Gus Boulis, due to the stupidity of how Kidan moved the money for the hit to the mobsters who have been arrested for their part in the episode. He wrote a check.

You have probably never heard of Makram Chams. It's time you met him.

Actually, you can't physically meet him -- he disappeared on September 11, 2001. I bring him to your attention for two reasons:


He knew, and apparently aided, Mohammed Atta and the other 9/11 terrorists.


He owned a casino ship in Florida.


Yes, a casino ship -- just like the SunCruz ships owned by Jack Abramoff, the recently-indicted Republican money-man and wheeler-dealer. According to Associated Press, the terrorists took a mysterious trip on a SunCruz ship on September 5, 2001. And that trip is of great interest for three reasons:


SunCruz ships were under investigation for involvement in money laundering and other unsavory activities.

Al Qaeda operatives made a number of mysterious casino jaunts in that era; few believe that they were hard-core gamblers.

Al Qaeda was funded by drug money. Drug money must needs be laundered. Casinos have been known to be used for that purpose. Casino ships are unregulated.


So with that background in mind, let's learn more about the mysterious Makram Chams (whose first name is sometimes transliterated as Meekram).

My information was kindly provided by the estimable Daniel Hopsicker, of Mad Cow Morning News. I'm trying to double check the Makram Chams story (which is mentioned on one of his documentary videos, but is not on his website) to the limited extent that I can.

Hopsicker learned from eyewitnesses -- including a cab driver who drove Atta on a number of occasions, and who told this story to the FBI -- that Atta frequently visited Makram Chams, a Lebanese who lived above a convenience store that he owned.

At one point, Chams asked the cab driver to take him to the Orlando Executive Airport. There, Chams picked up an Armani-suited Saudi businessman and his wife, who wore traditional Arab attire. The driver then took this party back to Chams' apartment. (After 9/11, the FBI reviewed surveillance tapes of this pick-up, which is how they learned of the driver.)

Weeks later, the same driver was asked to take the Saudi's wife back the airport. But now they were carrying extra luggage -- extremely heavy luggage. It was a chest so heavy that two men had to transport it. An intelligence source contacted by Hopsicker felt certain that this chest contained gold.

Chams was no mere convenience store operator. He co-owned (along with one other investor) a casino ship called Vegas-in-Venice. This ship attracted a fair amount of attention because it had been left illegally in the harbor for over a year. We have no word as to what happened to this ship, or how Chams paid for it. Was he a front man? Was the ship purchased by SunCruz?

After 9/11, Makram Chams disappeared, and his store remains shuttered.

Note, though everyone mentions Atta specifically, the original source AP story mentions only "some of the men suspected in the terrorist attacks", "two or three men linked to the Sept. 11 hijackings" and "manager recognized one of the suspected terrorists." - Video of that man given to FBI. Note that Atta's name is not mentioned. Still, it's amazing enough.

AP Sep. 27 - On the Port Canaveral ship, the casino manager recognized one of the suspected terrorists as someone who may have frequented the vessel. Video of that man is being turned over to the FBI either later Wednesday or early Thursday.

FORT LAUDERDALE -- Three men were charged with the 2001 gangland-style slaying of Miami businessman Konstantinos ``Gus'' Boulis, whose sale of a casino boat fleet to Jack Abramoff and a partner has led to federal charges against the prominent Washington lobbyist.

Anthony Ferrari was arrested at his North Miami Beach home Monday evening, Fort Lauderdale police said in a statement Tuesday. Fort Lauderdale homicide detectives arrested Anthony Moscatiello, 67, at his Howard Beach home in New York late Monday, police said.

Moscatiello and Ferrari, 48, were once paid by Adam Kidan, Abramoff's partner in the SunCruz Casinos sale, according to court documents in lawsuits filed about the sale.

Kidan paid Ferrari $95,000 when he was running SunCruz, but it is unclear what it was for, according to the documents. Kidan paid Moscatiello's daughter Jennifer $145,000 for his work as a food and beverage consultant at SunCruz, according to court documents.

Ferrari was being held at the Broward County Jail, sheriff's spokesman Jim Leljedal said. A third man, 28-year-old James Fiorillo, was arrested Tuesday in Palm Coast.

Moscatiello and Ferrari were charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder, police said. Fiorillo was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. All three were scheduled to appear in court either Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Republican machine built by DeLay, Norquist, Abramoff, et al. and pulled into high gear after 2001, is a pay-for-play political machine. This is just another part of the operation, like the diktat for trade associations to hire only Republicans. Big political machines need their soldiers taken care of -- jobs on K Street which also discipline the trade associations under Hill leadership. Just so, they need big sums of money to move around off the books. How does Rove keep the millions moving to Norquist? To Reed? To all the other operatives whose names you don't know about?

Indian tribes bursting with millions who need very focused sorts of legislative intervention -- that's one good source of money. Corrupt Pacific Island governments who need similar help -- another good source.

Why was Al-Arian not only invited to a White House briefing given by Bush aide Karl Rove in June 2001 -- against the advice of the Secret Service -- but honored with a front-row seat? Why was his son Abdullah invited to yet another White House meeting a few days later? And when the Secret Service properly pronounced Abdullah a security risk and removed him from the building, why did Bush bend over backward to apologize and order his security staff and spokesman to issue apologies as well?

How could these guys operate for more than a decade immune from prosecution? And, the answer is coming out in a very strange place. What Alamoudi and al-Arian have in common is a guy named Grover Norquist. He's the super lobbyist. Newt Gingrich's guy, the one the NRA calls on, head of American taxpayers. He is the guy that was hired by Alamoudi to head up the Islamic institute and he's the registered agent for Alamoudi, personally, and for the Islamic Institute.

Grover Norquist's best friend is Karl Rove, the White House chief of staff, and apparently Norquist was able to fix things. He got extreme right wing Muslim people to be the gatekeepers in the White House. That's why moderate Americans couldn't speak out after 9/11. Moderate Muslims couldn't get into the White House because Norquist's friends were blocking their access.

10. Back up the paddy wagon

When I was a kid, I worked in a candy store (remember those?). The place was owned and run by three brothers who supplemented all those nickels with some backroom action on the ponies. One of the brothers was nicknamed "Flash" since he was in charge of the flash papers that would quickly burn in the case of a raid.
The local precinct house would occasionally back-up a paddy wagon to the front door and round up all of the punters. One time, one of the gents hid behind the backroom door. Ever after he was known as "Snooky" since he "snooked out".
This WH gang has similar characters without the charm. There's Andrew "Flash" Card and Karl "Snooky" Rove. Of course, there's the big money guys - Cheney and his pet idiot W.
May be the gang who couldn't cheat straight.

Former Pentagon analyst Larry Franklin admitted in court Wednesday he passed classified information to Israeli diplomat Naor Gilon and to two former AIPAC officials, Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman.

Franklin agreed in court to testify against the two AIPAC officials and to prove that he had indeed passed classified information on to them, and had told them clearly this information was classified.

This was the first time that Israel was explicitly mentioned in the courtroom and that Gilon's name was disclosed. When asked by Judge T.S. Ellis whether he communicated classified information to a foreign official, Franklin replied: "I met occasionally with Naor Gilon from the Israeli embassy."

Adding that he had "assumed the Israeli government has already possessed" the information that Franklin gave Gilon, Franklin told the court that his impression was that Gilon gave him more information than he, Franklin, gave the Israeli official.

At night, between the first and second of the January 2001, a mysterious thief came to the embassy of Niger in Rome and into the residence of the counselor in charge. It turned out that some letterhead and seals were missing. A second dossier on Niger-Iraq trade soon came into Martino’s hands, one that included references to uranium trafficking.
