Haley Barbour resigned from leadership at Va. education business.
I heard this today on Ed Schultz show today. He said it was breaking news from AP, but I can't find the info anywhere! All I heaard was that the company name was something like K thru 12, and Haley was President and sat on the board. He was forced to resign over the weekend.

Sorry I can't find a link. I've tried everything I know, and nothing seems to show up.

I found it interesting because this is yet another Pub taking a hit!

A melon like that must weigh a good 40 pounds. It is amazing that either one can stand up.

9. Yes, that's the name of the Co. I thought it was a weird name.
Anyway the report Schultz read said Bennett resigned so he wouldn't have to put the kids through this false and agregious attempt to smear him. Then, Eddie read another report that said a group of parents demanded that their school recoke a contract that was given to this K12 company. I guess it must have been a big contract, and K12 decided good old Bennett was too big a liability!

I was glad to hear it too!!!! I'll keep trying to find the story.

8. we forgive ya - both guys are of the same 'ilk' (what a word) but
Barbour's probably a tad more careful with what comes out of his mouth in public.

10. Here's the link to the first story Big Eddie read.
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/10-03-2005/0004157888&EDATE=

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- K12 Inc. today announced that William
J. Bennett has resigned as an employee, and as Chairman and member of the
company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. K12 Inc. said the Board
accepted his resignation, thanking him for his contributions to the company.
K12 Inc. said that it has no relationship with, or involvement in, Dr.
Bennett's radio program. The opinions expressed by Dr. Bennett on his radio
program are his and his alone.
Dr. Bennett, in a separate statement said: "I am in the midst of a
political battle based on a coordinated campaign willfully distorting my
views, my record, and my statements. Given the controversy surrounding the
remarks I made on my radio show, I am stepping down from my positions at K12,
so that neither the mission of the company, nor its children, are affected,
distracted, or harmed in any way."

Remark by Barbour draws fire from Dems

Gubernatorial hopeful's choice of words criticized by Musgrove, others

From staff and wire reports

SOUTHAVEN — While praising an early development program, Republican gubernatorial candidate Haley Barbour said some underprivileged children would be better off in a "whorehouse" than in their current situations.

"Head Start is a godsend for Mississippi," Barbour told Sacred Heart Principal Laura Clark during a stop at the school Monday. "Some of those kids in it would be better off sitting up on a piano bench at a whorehouse than where they are now."

are plenty more Barbour-ism's where that came from.
