An old lady who MIGHT be okay
Oh, that was quite fun, listening to the local Conservative pundit have a hairy cat fit.

Two brutal elections. A huge majority in the Senate and House. But rather than flex their muscles and nominate a hardcore Conservative dynamo, they get "an old lady who MIGHT be okay."

Completely a blank slate, said the pundit. What if it's O'Connor again, or worse, SOUTER! "We don't know," he cried.

Not great intellectual mind. No writings to speak of. And she's 60!

Was it too much to ask to get what they'd been promised, he whined.

First time I've heard this guy call Bush any kind of failure. He said in some ways they've gotten what they wanted, Conservatively speaking. But not so much domestically. Bush elected a friend again, rewarding loyalty instead of picking someone best for the job and giving the base what they'd been working for an what they thought they would get in Bush.

Bwahahahahaha! Awww, poor baby.

For those who've heard him sub for Rush, I'm talking about Mark Belling. Gads, that was good.

1. So Mark Belling thinks 60 is an "old lady"?
Man, he has a lot to learn. Can't wait for the blowback on that sorry line.

2. Yeah, he's giving her 6 or 7 years tops
I will admit, she looks like somebody rode her hard and put her away wet. But that doesn't mean there isn't some life in the ol' girl.

He wanted a 40 to 45 year old.

5. Right, so we can be stuck with someone for 40 years, again.
I like them older on SCOTUS, with judicial experience a'plenty. Wingnuts just want someone to carry out their agenda in Stepford fashion, for decades to come.

9. Well, if she only lasts a few years
who knows who will be in office then.

10. We may all run out of optimism by then.
Look at all the damage the SCOTUS did in 2000, simply because Scalia was beholden to the bushes for heaven knows what. And Sandra O., I have no idea what temporary insanity took over in her mind.

11. That was why Markie was so upset. He wanted a Scalia or a Thomas
he got, well, he doesn't know what he got. But he thinks he voted for a man who was going to give him the moon, Conservatively speaking.

3. I was going to say the same thing
but you beat me to it. I hate it when a man who is 60 is still considered 'vital' while a woman is considered 'old'.

4. Miers reminds me of Karen Huge and Mama Evil Bush.....
She's never been married. Doesn't she's a virgin. Means she probably (1) slept her way up into power through powerful men, 2) she's Condosleeza's lover.

7. She's has no great writings, she's not a judge
but she has given money to Al Gore. I think that we need to remind the right wingers of that fact every chance we get. Just to taunt to them.

Today might be the unofficial end of the Bush administration. His base has finally started to wake up and realize what kind of opportunist and corporate lackey he is. If this trend continues, a lot of people who have supported Republicans in the past will stay home on election day in '06.

8. What kind of great awakening do you have to make you switch parties
like that.

Was she "born-again"?

Or is she like Condi and Gonzalez, both pro-choice, but loyal to Bush. Among the folks Bush trusts, he doesn't care if they're pure. So it might be with Harriet. Knowing the Religious Right didn't want Alberto either, maybe she really isn't what they'd want.

Poor Mark feared that with this woman, they might not be able to fight things like gay marriage and the like. The HORROR!
