MOVE ON asking for internet help re Miers
Ex-FEMA Director Michael Brown taught us that vital national positions must be filled with qualified candidates, not political friends with limited experience. With such a thin public record, how can Americans know Harriet Miers' approach to critical issues like corporate power, privacy and civil rights?

Right now we urgently need more information, and we need your help to get it. In the next few hours the Internet will fill with facts, anecdotes and rumors about Harriet Miers. We need your help to sort through it all, select the relevant and important details, and let us know what you find—decentralized, grassroots research.

We've set up a simple web form where you can post facts and sources that will fill out the picture on what kind of Supreme Court justice Miers would be. We'll get your research to the media, the Senate and our partner groups. This info will also be crucial in setting MoveOn's course for this nomination. Even if you just have a few minutes to spare, it could help a lot at this crucial time.

You can post facts right now at:

3. Miers Led Bid to Revisit Abortion Stance
"He's a great leader????" Oh, vomit.

Here's what I posted, and I remind all you young women in my eternally tender, loving way to get off your asses and fight this kind of crap. You are NOT entitled to freedom of choice or freedom to control your own body in these pigs' view.

Miers Led Bid to Revisit Abortion Stance

By ANNE GEARAN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON — President Bush's choice to fill the seat of retiring Supreme Court Justice and moderate abortion rights supporter Sandra Day O'Connor was a leader in an unsuccessful fight to get the nation's largest lawyers' group to reconsider its pro-abortion rights stance.

As president of the Texas State Bar in 1993, Harriet Miers urged the national American Bar Association to put the abortion issue to a referendum of the group's full membership. She questioned at the time whether the ABA should "be trying to speak for the entire legal community" on an issue that she said "has brought on tremendous divisiveness" within the ABA.

5. Well the freepers are
in a panic bordering on hysteria so that HAS to be a good thing as far as this nominee is concerned :) I went to read the posts there to get an idea if they were angry or happy and it was beyond anger, with many of them threatening to bolt the party or a few even said they would vote for Hillary in 08.

so I think we may (and its too early to tell) but because of cronyism we may have dodged a conservative bullet this time :)
