Bush looks like he's ready to pass out...and he has more make-up on than ever. Ready for a collapse?

EDIT: This post, from my perspective, is about the Chimp - not the appearance or looks of Ms. Miers...

12. As a make-up artist....
Ms. Miers desperately needs a make-over. Black liner on someone her age and with her coloring is a serious no-no. And the application is very poor for someone with eyes her shape and size.

And, oh yeah, Bush looks embalmed - and out of it -- in that shot.

17. Arggghhh! It's that "two face" look again.
Hide the left side of dumbass's face with a piece of paper or something. Then hide the right. Two completely different expressions. The demon within is looking out from the left side of his face.

They don't do your eye color justice, especially with those dark circles right beneath. Borrow whatever pancake makeup President Potty Stop is using.

24. Not criticizing her appearance here, but...
why do you suppose are her pupils so tightly contracted? Are the lights that bright in that room? She really looks pretty strange, between that and poorly applied eye-liner. Just sayin'.

Bush, on the other hand, looks like he's relieving himself as she speaks.

25. I miss Janet Reno! She didn't seem to wear a lot of make-up.
I'd just like to see an honest face for a change. How about a face that expresses feelings of compassion and love for a change? I can't think of one such face in the entire Bush administration.

The look I want isn't beautiful in the Hollywood sense. It's something that comes from the inner spirit and glows from the inside on the outside of the person. I see that beauty on the faces of people I know and people I meet on the street, but I never see it in the politicos and pundits on TV.

Very sad. It shouldn't be a partisan thing. Republicans should be able to have it as well as Democrats. I personally know some Republicans who have it. On the Democratic side, Boxer kind of has it. Actually, on the Republican side, Roberts has it at moments. But, basically, you just don't see that look in politics.

26. I think it has to do with innocence.
I think the look is present in people who are basically innocent -- not all that greedy or power-hungry for themselves. People who have real ideals seem to have it. Martin Luther King had it. So did some of the other idealists of the 60s. But politicians nowadays on both sides don't have it.

40. Appearances aside, why isn't he giving her "the look of love"
that he's showered on his other appointees? Usually, while they're giving their little "I'm grateful for this opportunity to serve a great and glorious leader" spiel, he's standing off to one side licking his chops and looking like he'd really like to jump their bones right then and there.

41. Because he is appointing her to get rid of her in a nice way.
It's a sort of pension plan for this woman. She has done Bush services for which he cannot adequately repay her. Is she otherwise entitled to a federal pension? I don't know, but I suspect not. This is a way of letting her go nicely. From her resume it is evident she if very ambitious, and just being nominated for the SC is very flattering.

I wonder what the odds are on her getting appointed. She doesn't have Roberts' charm or knowledge of the law. She is too right-wing for us Democrats and too left wing for the fundamentalist right. She's a mover and shaker politically, but will have difficulty showing that she has the intellectual prowess for the Supreme Court (especially after Roberts was so recently interviewed by the Senate Judicial Committee and upped the standards in that regard quite a bit). That's because she hasn't written judicial opinions, and Bush is unlikely to waive his attorney/client privilege with her so her recent written work won't be available the Senate Judicial Committee. If I'm right about those facts and theories, then Ms. Miers will have to prove her legal savvy through her testimony. That will require her to answer questions, and with the Senate and the American people divided as we all are, the minute she opens her mouth, she will offend half the nation. Well, I may be wrong about some of my facts. Maybe she has a history as a formidable litigator that just hasn't shown up in the biographies I have seen, and the SJC will be able to read her submissions in the official records of those cases.

It looks like thus far in her career Ms. Miers has relied on her ability to make powerful friends and influence them. I wonder how many friends she has bothered to make in the Senate -- especially among Senate Democrats? I guess it will come down to that in the end. Of course, Democrats may simply let her get into office knowing she is not up to the job without a fight just to call Bush's bluff. They did that with Thomas, and look where it got us. Horrors.
