Dana Bash contributes to Miers Astroturf: "Trailblazer."
When I woke up this morning and turned on the "Today" show, at about 7:10 am David Gregory was confirming that Miers was the Bush choice. He seemed slightly incredulous.

I flipped over to CNN, which didn't confirm the choice until about twenty minutes later. They went to Dana Bash, standing outside the White House. Dana held in her hand what she called, "The White House Talking Points on Harriet Miers."

She then chuckled a bit while pointing out the first paragraph. "Soledad, in the first lines, the White House wants us to refer to Ms. Miers as a 'trailblazer.' In fact, it's in bold!"

Well, I've been watching CNN for a few hours now, and Dana has used the word "trailblazer" to describe Ms. Miers repeatedly, without reference to her earlier "talking points" memo.

I loathe when BushCo gets stuck on a word. "Blame Game" comes to mind.

At any rate, is "trailblazer" even remotely accurate? What was so "trailblazing" about a woman becoming a lawyer in 1970? Sandra Day O'Connor was a lawyer in 1952, for example.

 :eyes:

1. Dana "blink blink" Bash?
I usually count the time she says 'THE PRESIDENT' in a report. No one calls bush THE PRESIDENT more than blinky bash. She is a shameless HO!

4. Blinky Bash!!!
Heh!! :-)

Ya know, Hillary Clinton entered Yale Law in 1969, but I can't imagine BushCo ever referring to her as a "trailblazer." :eyes:

2. Talking points? Maybe, like John Bolton, she's just "the right person at
the right time."

3. without the spoonfed 'talking points'-some of the clueless 'pretty' faces
in the WH press corpse would have little to say.

They all get the Talking Points...they all use them.

She had the moxie to at least 'credit' the source of her 'trailblazer' comment.

6. Hey!! Rush Limbaugh's girlfriend just called her a trailblazer, too!
Our Miss Daryn Kagan, speaking to "I Love Candy" Crowley:

"A trailblazer indeed. No matter how you feel about this nomination, one cannot deny that she is an incredibly admirable and accomplished lawyer."

WTF is so trailblazing about a woman becoming an attorney in 1970, and isn't that an outrageously sexist thing to say?

Maybe it's just me...
