I went to an antique show/flea market yesterday. This is a big one that comes to my area 3 times a year and I usually go at least once a year. Well, the first thing I noticed was how sparse the crowd was compared to other years. I did ask one of the vendors how the crowd was on Saturday, expecting that it would be larger because collectors like to go to shows the minute they open to be the first to get the "good stuff." His response was "Not good. About like today."
I think between tight budgets and high gas prices, people just don't have enough discretionary income to support their hobbies like they used to. This is sad, because some of these vendors depend on shows for their livelihood or to supplement retirement income.
