1. If you going tobe Impeached, wouldn't you want your personal lawyer to be
the judge?

8. I have seen this misconception a few times

She would have nothing to do with any impeachment. The house votes to impeach, the senate votes (I hope!) to convict. John Roberts would preside over the senate trial but I don't think even he would have much influence on the verdict.

what evidence could be introduced, including "relevancy, materiality and redundancy" and what witnesses would be heard. He would shape any impeachment trial, NOT that I ever expect to see one this decade!

3. Also.........
Can't the Dems pick her nomination apart based on the fact that she is White House Counsel and the White House is (essentially) under investigation with Plamegate?

5. They could
but the new power structure in America is nearly complete. It will be an uphill struggle without a free press.

6. Rejected by whom?
You think the repugs are going to vote against her? The Dems won't. Unless there is something truly horrible in her background she will be appointed.

7. God I hope not...
She is far from perfect and we have all the more reason to be cautious, but it would be bad strategy for the Senate Democrats to condemn Meirs. We need the full support plus a handful of Republicans to get her through.

I'm am, however, a bit pleased with her nomination. She is a far better choice when you consider that we could have had Janice Rogers-Brown or Michael Lutig as a nominee.

We need to be careful.

10. You may be right..they anticipate her being turned down....?
So, then they can get the one they really want, because the Democrats would not vote twice to turn down the nominee. Interesting scenario and very believable.
