Italy has denied giving the US and Britain documents indicating that Iraq sought uranium in Africa to develop nuclear weapons.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini reiterated the official denial of the claims as reported in several European newspapers.

"Italy, that is the entire Italian intelligence services, never, I say never, delivered documentation relating to this controversy to the services of other countries," Mr Frattini told a meeting with foreign media.
