7. Of course, the GOP right of his day conspired to deny him the nomination
in 1912, so he ran as a Bull Moose Progessive and forced the Republican incumbent into third place.

He was a good environmentalist, but also an imperialist of the first water, so you got a mixed bag with TR.

He would've hated it that Nixon quoted him in his resignation speech.
